NBA 2K23 is packed with unique game modes this year, but one feature appears to have slipped in from MyNBA Eras by accident.
Here's everything we know about the hidden MyNBA Eras in Play Now feature and how the latest NBA 2K23 update changed it.
NBA 2K23 briefly had a hidden MyNBA Eras feature in Play Now
There are several big features that have drawn attention in NBA 2K23 from the return of The Jordan Challenge to an absolutely packed to the brim MyCAREER.
As for the Franchise Mode equivalent in NBA 2K23, it may have gotten the biggest win of all this year with the arrival of MyNBA Eras.
This new immersive option allows you to start an NBA franchise in either The Magic vs Bird Era, The Jordan Era, The Kobe Era, or The Modern Era.

This not only gives you accurate league rosters from those time periods, but it gives you accurate teams and even changes the rules of the game to match that era.
The Magic vs Bird Era drops you in 1983, The Jordan Era begins in 1991, The Kobe Era kicks off in 2002, and The Modern Era is today's NBA.
However, some gamers realized just a few days ago that MyNBA Eras was hiding in Play Now as well if players would just press X / Square to reveal this screen below.
While players can get that experience in MyNBA Eras, having it integrated into Play Now allows the fun of simply jumping into a game with Kobe's Lakers in 2002 or Jordan's Bulls in 1991.
It seemed like an exciting addition once spotted, but the "Debug Option" tipped off that the fun wasn't going to last.
NBA 2K23 Update 1.006 removes MyNBA Eras from Play Now
Unfortunately, it's already time for this revelation to be squashed, as the latest NBA 2K23 update removed it.
We were able to confirm the feature was playable in-game, and you can see below one example of historic teams in Play Now, but the feature is now gone.
With it's removal thanks to NBA 2K23 Update 1.006, fans are left to start an entire MyNBA Eras save if they want to even slip in one quick game like this.
Play Now does still include several historic teams, but not all lineups from MyNBA Eras are part of those, and even starting games with those teams would not include the MyNBA Eras rule changes.
It's possible that 2K is saving the feature for a later release, but they also may not have any plans and clearly didn't intend for the public to see it.
