FIFA 21 has been out since October of 2020, but is it worth buying still before FIFA 22 later in the year?
There have been plenty of changes in this edition of the game, but it has still received mixed reviews.
There are positives though, so depending which game mode you are most interested, it can still be good value for money.
Ultimate Team
The most popular and lucrative game mode on FIFA, Ultimate Team is as competitive as it is fun.
Building your squad is exciting, as is opening packs. However, this far into the season you will be starting behind the eight ball.
It could take a while to build your team strong enough to compete with the current standard, so be prepared to struggle early on.
There are some great promos to look forward to though. Team of the Season is on the horizon, and the current Future Stars event has been brilliant.
Career Mode
This is a game mode that really does divide opinion.
Those who want a more immersive managerial experience, we would recommended Football Manager.
EA has made good progress with their Career Mode though, with the new player development feature a real winner.
Even so, we wouldn't splash out on FIFA 21 just for Career Mode.
Pro Clubs
Hours of fun.
This game mode really doesn't need to be the latest game, but as it's the one everyone is playing now we still think it worth it.
The biggest sell of Pro Clubs is playing with your mates.
While competitive, this game mode allows you and your friends to climb the divisions and attempt to claim Division 1 glory.
Worth it?
For online game modes, yes.
We would still go for the new game to play Pro Clubs and Ultimate Team, although as mentioned the latter could be tough for the first couple of weeks.
As far as Career Mode goes, we would hold off until the Next Gen optimized FIFA 22 Career Mode.
