An open-world mode has been rumored to come to the EA FC franchise for almost a year now. New leaked information has revealed that the mode will indeed happen, and that it will likely be added in the new entry in the franchise, EA FC 27.

The mode will be similar to The City in NBA 2K, with players being able to access a plethora of different game modes, walk around the area, see games between players as they happen in real time, create, upgrade, and customize their character, and much more.

Without further ado, let's find out everything we know about the EA FC Open World mode so far.

A closed and limited-timed EA FC Playtest has recently gone live, where players are testing a "range of innovations, technical performance, and stability" improvements. The content of this playtest won't be added to FC 26, and leakers have discovered that's because EA Sports is testing the EA FC Open World mode.

According to leaks from multiple reliable sources, EA FC Open World is expected to have at least six game modes:

  • 2v2 and 3v3 Kickabout: A 2v2 street match, with no fouls or offside, a golden goal rule if a draw, and rebounds off the walls.
  • Foot Tennis: A classic Foot Tennis match, where you can lob or shoot over the net, with the first to reach 10 points winning.
  • Balloon Ball: A football version of dodgeball, where players have three lives and power-ups. You need to hit other players with the ball to eliminate them, just like in dodgeball.
  • Closest To The Pin: Players pass or chip the ball close to a target. Players can knock the opponent's balls away from the target, similar to curling.
  • Draw The Line: Players need to pass the ball to form geometrical shapes, such as a square. The more accurate players are, the more points they win.
  • Rush: Similar to the traditional rush, but without fouls or a goalkeeper.

The leaks have also revealed that the EA FC Open World mode will have a main hub where players can meet each other, watch games that are currently happening, and spam emotes. Similar to what happens in NBA 2K The City, there will be stores in the mode, probably scattered around the open world map, where players can buy different types of cosmetics.

As of right now, that is everything that is known about the EA FC Open World mode. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, there are a lot of similarities to NBA 2K The City mode, which makes sense, as that's the blueprint for every open-world sports game.
