What's better than free game? Nothing. Thankfully, PS Plus members get free games every month, on top of various other discounts.
The PS Plus' monthly free games in May 2021 have now been officially revealed, so you can check them out below.
New - May 2021 PS Plus Lineup Confirmed
Backing up the areajugones leak mentioned below, the May 2021 PS Plus lineup has been officially confirmed by Sony.
The full list of confirmed titles is:
- Battlefield V (PS4)
- Stranded Deep (PS4)
- Wreckfest (PS5)
They will be available from May 4 until May 31, so don't forget to download them.
You can also check out the PS Blog post for more on each of the games if you're not familiar.
New Leak
While they're to be taken with a pinch of salt, it seem like the PS4 titles that will be included in May 2021 have leaked
While areajugones have no information on what the PS5 game will be, they are claiming that the following two games will be featured in the PS Plus in May 2021 lineup.
- Battlefield V
- Stranded Deep
Battlefield 6 was officially revealed last week, with news expected before EA Play this summer, so now would be a good time to include a previous game from the series in the PS Plus lineup.
Is Terminator Coming To PS Plus?
Reef Entertainment's Terminator Resistance has had a native PS5 release in the works for a little while now and it was originally due to release on April 8th.
Despite the fact that Reef Entertainment seem to think it's still on course for this release date, as the tweet below states, there are rumours that it's being pushed back a few days on Sony's end of things.
With May's PS Plus titles coming out just a few days after the original launch date, it could line up well and fill the "PS5 space" we're going to have.
Although it isn't a new title, Control released their Ultimate Edition alongside being included in PS Plus and that went down pretty well with fans. We're not sure Terminator Resistance has the same chops as a title, but we'll see.
PS Plus May 2021
The PS Plus May 2021 announcement is expected to drop on April 28th at 11:30 EST / 16:30 BST. Usually, the PS Plus titles are announced on the last Wednesday of the month at the same time. So, this one's a little easier to predict.
In addition to this, we're then expecting the PS Plus titles to become available from May 4th at 00:00 Local Time. Even if the PS Plus tab of your PS Store hasn't updated, you should be able to search for the game and they'll be available. This was based on the time that the current PS Plus titles leave the subscription. It's usually a simple swap of one month's titles for the next month's games.
Play At Home Initiative
As it stands, there's currently only one game coming to the Play at Home Initiative for free in May 2021.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is currently one of the free PlayStation games available through this service and it is the only one that continues to be free into May 2021.
It will be free for anyone on PS4 or PS5 until May 14th. We do know that more Play at Home Initiative games is coming, but at the moment we don't know when. So, for now, this is the only one available.
Free-to-Play Games & More
On top of all this, there's still the standard array of free-to-play games available to PlayStation players on both PS4 and PS5.
Apex Legends is getting another major title update next month, too! The Legacy Update is adding a new Legend, a new Bocek Bow weapon, map changes, and the new Arenas mode. It's never been a better time to jump into Apex Legends if you're unfamiliar.
Similarly, Warzone's Season Three just kicked off with a nuclear-sized change. Verdansk has been blown up and there's a brand new map (that's still Verdansk) for you to drop into! If you've been taking some time off, this is another great free-to-play shooter.
Rocket League, World of Tanks, Warframe, and Fortnite are just a few of the other additional free PlayStation games you could jump into in May 2021.
