NHL 22 may be a few months out from a release date, but we've finally gotten to see the game in action with a trailer.

The NHL 22 reveal trailer has finally arrived, which you can watch in full below, and we've learned major details about the upcoming game.
Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs returns to the cover of the series, he was previously the cover athlete for NHL 20.
On top of that, we've learned the official release date is October 15, 2021!
NHL 22 will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, and you can pre order now from the EA website.

While things were relatively quiet for some time, that's finally changing with NHL 22 news just around the corner.
The first big look will come with the NHL 22 Reveal Trailer, and we already know exactly when to expect it!
The release date and time for the NHL 22 Reveal Trailer is Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 8am PT (11am ET/10am CT).
While it's not yet been confirmed, this is expected to be the first time we've seen next gen NHL action on the new Frostbite Engine.
There is a brief teaser seen above, and in it there's a disclaimer that it features "actual gameplay footage," and the opening and ending with an Xbox logo could signal they'll be spotlighting Xbox Series X|S graphics.
NHL 22 is still expected to be released on other platforms, including current gen versions on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, as well as the next gen version on PS5.

As mentioned above, we're hoping to see some next gen gameplay, as EA opted not to develop NHL 21 for next gen systems.
It's not clear for how many years we'll see the continued release on both next gen and current gen, but it should remain the case for NHL 22 at the very least.
When EA started dropping news for Madden 22, they did so in bulk with tons of details coming out with the first trailer.
Cover Athlete, Release Date, and even some of the year's most crucial gameplay details were all dropped at the same time.
That was followed up with the Closed Technical Test, which has been announced already for NHL 22 along with registration details, and a series of deep dives came in the following weeks about various game modes and features.
