NBA 2K22 is full steam ahead to a release date this September, and some of the biggest leaks about the cover have now been confirmed.
We've got all the details on what was leaked and what we've learned today about the NBA 2K22 cover.
Latest - Cover officially revealed, leaks confirmed
It looks like a win for the leakers, as the NBA 2K22 cover athletes have finally been revealed and these reports have rang true.
However, they didn't tell the full story, as we've also learned WNBA star Candace Parker has gotten her own cover.
On top of that, Dirk Nowitzki is sharing the 75th Anniversary Edition cover with fellow legends Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Kevin Durant.
Leak claims Dirk Nowitzki will be the Cover Athlete for NBA 2K22
The biggest news today is a leak coming from a post on the subreddit r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, and it directly claims "Dirk Nowitzki will be this year's cover athlete."
The leaker is cautious and states to take the information with a grain of salt, but also indicates it's from a direct source connected to 2K Games and includes information about three other 2K titles as well.
The leak was further shared by the r/NBA2K Twitter account, and included a notable reply by Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier that lends credence to this leak.
It's also clarified in the post that this could be just one of this year's Cover Athletes, which makes sense based on previous reporting about the Standard Edition choice.
Luka Doncic the favorite for NBA 2K22 Cover Athlete
In addition to the leak about Dirk Nowitzki, a report from last month by Heavy points to Luka Doncic as the main pick to be on the cover of NBA 2K22.
Doncic had previously been revealed as a cover athlete for the NBA Live series by EA Sports, but this new report indicates he's broken away from that deal and signed with 2K.
It further states that Doncic was frustrated with the stagnation of the NBA Live series, and it would make perfect sense that 2K Sports could pull him away if they offered the Cover Athlete spot on NBA 2K22.
While this is still unconfirmed, all signs point to Luka Doncic and Dirk Nowitzki taking center stage when NBA 2K22 is released later this year.
