Release Date on PS5
Madden 22 was officially released on Friday, 20 August on all platforms, including PS5.
EA Sports has been releasing Madden games every August for going on two decades now, and this year is no different as they've not allowed any delays to interfere with their usual window.
This is also be the first year we see next gen versions land along with the worldwide launch, as Madden 21 didn't arrive on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S until nearly four months later due to the release timing of the consoles themselves.
Madden 22 Price for PS5
Unfortunately, next-gen consoles come with next-gen prices, and Madden 22 for PS5 will continue to hold the next gen standard of $70 at launch.
The official price for Madden 22 Standard Edition on PS5 will be $69.99, but players will once again have the option to pay extra for additional bonuses.
The MVP Edition will be $99.99, while the Dynasty Edition will go for $119.99, and you can find more details here on these editions and what they'll contain.
PS5 will have a huge edge on PS4
If you're wondering if now is the time to make the leap to PS5, Madden 22 could help make that decision for you with some major next gen exclusive features.
Dynamic Gameday, which includes the new Gameday Momentum mechanic with home field advantages, is going to be exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
With current gen potentially getting left behind, we took a closer look at how Madden 22 is handling the section of fans that hasn't yet upgraded to next gen.
Truly Next-Gen Madden
There was plenty of excitement about Madden 21 heading to PS5, but the next-gen update that released in December failed to live up to that excitement.
There was plenty of promise, but Madden 21 launched on PS5 as relatively the same game that had launched a few months prior on PS4. There was a visual change to the play-calling in games, some updated graphics, and the minor addition of Next Gen Stats during replays.
EA Sports has promised upgrades to Franchise Mode and they definitely delivered. One way they're bringing some new blood to the game mode is with the addition of Franchise Staff. This gives you the ability to upgrade your staff via "Talent Trees".
They even added a more robust scouting feature. The great news is if you don't want to use the new scouting feature, you can bypass it.
These upgrades being brought to Franchise Mode are getting everyone excited for the release date.
Madden 22 Reveal Trailer
It is here! Take a look at what is to come from Madden 22.
Last year's Madden 21 gameplay trailer was also followed a few days later by a dual-trailer with FIFA 21 at EA Play Live that specifically hyped the launch of those two titles on next-gen consoles.
With this year seeing a simultaneous launch on all platforms, we're hoping to see a gameplay trailer and more between now and the title's release date.
