Madden 22 dropped a bomb of new details about the game with the official reveal, and that keeps rolling this week with a deep dive into Franchise Mode.
There's no doubt the anticipation is sky high for Franchise Mode, and we've now gotten a closer look at exactly what it might look like when Madden 22 is released.
Madden 22 Franchise Mode New Features
EA Sports released the first Madden 22 All Access video with the early focus going to the highly anticipated Franchise Mode.
They discussed several new aspects coming to Franchise Mode, including Staff Management, Staff Points, Weekly Strategy, Dynamic Gameday, an enhanced Season Engine, updates to the Franchise Hub, and more.
Staff Management & Staff Points
These are some of the first detailed looks fans have gotten at what Franchise will look like in Madden 22, including a quality shot of the added Staff Management feature and the RPG-style talent trees.
Each of these could be spotted in the Madden 22 official reveal trailer, but were part of briefly shown montage images and not easily readable.
New Staff Goals will allow you to challenge your team to knock out specific objectives to earn additional Staff Points each week, and these can be spent on any of the four pieces of your Franchise Staff.
Talents vary, but we know that they can affect everything from injury ratings and recovery time to player progression and scouting.
You'll get the opportunity to carefully craft a Franchise that's maximized to make the most out of your own skills and the way you operate the team.
Weekly Strategy & Halftime Adjustments
Weekly Strategy is aiming to take Franchise Mode and give it an injection of planning, and those plans will now include considering exactly what kind of strengths and weaknesses your opponent will showcase on the field.
You'll be able to choose an offensive and defensive gameplan each week, focusing things on one type of play or one aspect of play in order to counter the opposing team.
You'll also need to take into account Player Health in order to keep everyone healthy throughout a full season, which even ties into practice.
Players will have the option to limit practice intensity in order to preserve Player Health throughout the season.
Halftime Adjustments are a great addition, and they'll be felt both inside and outside of Franchise Mode for Madden 22.
Players will now be able to change the offensive and defensive gameplan at halftime based on the tendencies of your opponent during the first half.
Season Engine & Franchise Hub
In addition to the other major feature changes, Madden 22 is getting a brand new Season Engine for Franchise with new scenarios that should appear throughout the season.
They've stated there will be over 35 different scenarios in the title at launch, with more to be added in future updates.
Early glimpses have shown press conferences with your Head Coach being able to choose between two answers to a key question, which lines up with what we've seen in the beta so far.
They also showed a look at one potential scenario where you can link together a veteran quarterback and young wide receiver to create a star out of the rookie through improved chemistry and successful weekly goals.
On top of that, the core screen and Franchise Hub that you'll work in while playing the game mode has been given a facelift with clear goals, activities, and more upgrades to the interface.
Scouting coming in September
One of the big updates coming to Franchise Mode that was covered in this deep dive is Scouting, but this addition won't land until at least September of this year.
Unfortunately, players will have to wait a full month after the game is released, but this is also part of EA Sports' commitment to "Live Service Updates."
They've deemed Franchise Mode a Live Service, similar to Ultimate Team, and intend to continue updating and improving it throughout the season.
While the wait is frustrating, the glimpses we've seen of this new Scouting mechanic look really promising, with the ability to carefully place your scouts in different regions with their own individual focus.
Draft prospects will also climb up and down the draft board throughout the season and offseason, which should better emulate the fluctuations of scouting and the NFL Draft in real life.
We had the opportunity to be in an early media preview of Madden 22 and also got to ask developers about trade logic improvements, which should be coming with a future update.
