FIFA 23 will be the final game in the series, with EA Sports FC set to become the future of the franchise in the summer of 2023.
Despite this fact, FIFA 23 has well and truly hit the ground running, becoming the most popular title in EA Sports FIFA franchise history.
EA has revealed that FIFA 23 has enjoyed the biggest launch in the series’ illustrious history, breaking the previous record set by last year’s FIFA 22.
Record Breaker
FIFA 23 has attracted a whopping 10.3 million players within the first week, signalling the biggest launch period in the franchise's history.
This figure has blown the previous record of 9.1 million players within the first ten days, set by FIFA 22, completely out of the water.
Nick Wlodyka, SVP, GM of EA SPORTS FC said this:
“The response from our fans has been nothing short of incredible, and we’re thrilled that our community is playing with their favourite players and teams across FIFA 23 in record numbers. With both the Men’s and Women’s World Cups, and exciting updates to our women’s club football content in game still yet to come, we’re just getting started on providing players with the most authentic and immersive experience yet.”
As Nick said Nick Wlodyka mentioned, the hotly anticipated World Cup game mode is still yet to come for the popular FIFA title.
We expect the introduction of the World Cup mode to attract another wave of users, which could translate to even more records broken for EA.
World Cup Mode Incoming
We've already had our first look at some FIFA 23 World Cup gameplay after one particular user was wrongly granted access to the tutorial.
Thanks to the leaked footage, we now know that you will be able to play a number of different modes within the World Cup DLC.
'Your FIFA World Cup', 'Featured Quickplay' and 'Online Quickplay' are the three major options you can choose from when loading up the DLC.
The Quickplay modes allow you to choose any World Cup fixture, past or present, and play a one-off match against local friends, against the AI or against an online friend.
The 'Your FIFA World Cup' tab will allow you to enjoy a whole host of different modes, including setting up your own custom online or offline World Cup tournaments as well as a kick-off mode.
