FIFA 23: Fan favourite FUTMAS promo set to return to Ultimate Team after two year hiatus

FIFA 23 is here and the Ultimate Team content is coming thick and fast now, with plenty of promo-themed objectives and daily SBCs to work through.

The Road to the Knockouts (RTTK) promo is taking centre stage in FUT 23 but it's time to look ahead to the festive season and what it might bring to FIFA.

The FUTMAS campaign was released for the first time ever in FIFA 13 and became an annual event in Ultimate Team.

However, to the disappointment of the FIFA community, the FUTMAS promo has not been featured in Ultimate Team for two years now.

Well, it looks like that could be about to change...

What is FUTMAS?

FUTMAS was a festive promotion created by EA to celebrate the winter holiday season.

During this event, FUTMAS-themed items were released exclusively through daily Squad Building Challenges.

Three new players were chosen every day, based on their kit numbers, FIFA world rankings and league position in the previous season.

FUTMAS players have never been eligible for trading on the transfer market.

FUTMAS was typically the last promotional event before the release of the hotly anticipated Team of the Year (TOTY) squad.

The return of FUTMAS

According to the reliable DonkTrading on Twitter, certain FUTMAS card types have been added to the FIFA 23 Ultimate Team code.

'FUTMAS', 'FUTMAS - SE' and 'FUTMAS - Flashback' cards have all been added to the code, which usually means they will be released into FUT in the coming days or weeks.

This would strongly imply that the FUTMAS promo is finally making a return to Ultimate Team after a long two years of having to deal with the underwhelming FUT Freeze event.

It remains to be seen whether EA will release a tradeable promo squad into packs this time around, but we can't wait to see what is in store!

The 'FUTMAS Flashback' cards could possibly use the same players from the previous FUTMAS SBCs in FIFA 18, FIFA 19 and FIFA 20.
