7 things we want to see on FIFA 22 Ultimate Team

Ultimate Team is the most popular and lucrative game mode on FIFA, but will we see any changes on FIFA 22?

We certainly think so, and we have come up with a list of things we would love to see on the new game later this year.

Check out our FIFA 22 Ultimate Team wishlist below.

Ultimate Team

We are already looking ahead to FIFA 22, with it set to be the first in the series to be fully optimized for next-gen consoles.

We are expecting the game to arrive in late September, although no official release date has been confirmed yet.

Position Modifiers

It always seems so bizarre to see the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe lining up in central midfield and we would like to see an end to this nonsense.

Instead of all the various individual position changes, we would like to see just one card able to change the position of a player.

STUCK IN DEFENCE - Centre backs cannot change positions

These would then affect the player's secondary and tertiary positions, which for wingers could mean a change of sides!

For example, Lionel Messi’s primary position is RW, but our ‘concept’ position modifiers could change him to his other positions CF and ST, rather than limiting him to RM/RF.

Co-op

One of the best new features from last season, co-op mode was an exciting addition on FUT 21.

There is definitely room for improvement though, as loads of objectives cannot be achieved while playing co-op!

If that can be rectified, co-op play could really take FUT 22 to the next level.

Friendlies

The introduction of some of the Live FUT Friendlies has been a great addition to the game as it has forced us to use players we wouldn’t necessarily have bothered with.

FRIENDLY FUN - Choudhury was a Managerial Masterpiece objective reward

We want to see this continue, but we would also like better rewards for the staple friendlies like Managerial Masterpiece.

Weekly rewards like we see in Squad Battles and Rivals would really take the FUT Friendlies t the next level.

Level Playing Field

If you check out some of the pro gamers’ squads, there is almost no chance of competing with their teams.

This trickles down through all levels of the game and the pay-to-win element is a source of frustration to many.

The ‘first owned objectives in the Icon Swaps do level the playing field to an extent, so we would love to see a setting where this is brought in more often.

Team rating appears to have gone out the window when it comes to matchmaking now, and with the use of bronze players on the bench, we understand why.

There must be a way to fix this though, as some teams are just significantly better.

Game modes like the Live FUT Friendly: Managerial Masterpiece that has a team rating limit is a fantastic way to even things up.

FUT Stadium

It was a nice thought, but we are not really sure what all the fuss was about.

If it had any impact on gameplay that would be one thing, but any time you achieve an objective and are rewarded with a Tifo is a little disappointing.

Swap Shop

Packing duplicates is a huge source of frustration for players (especially untradeable ones).

While we understand why you can’t stockpile multiple duplicates, it does feel like a bit of a waste when untradeable cards have to go in the bin.

A ‘swap shop’ of sorts could be a quick place to trade your duplicates with no coins involved. A win-win situation for both parties.

Rubber Banding

Please, please, please EA do something about this.

We will all have faced it at some point, and it just turns the game mind-numbingly dull when the other player stops playing.

DO THE RIGHT THING - Don't waste your opponents time

Surely it cannot be difficult to figure out when a player is pressing no buttons and going round in circles.

Or, cut out the middleman and just don’t do it. You know who you are.
