Season 6 is just days away and Forsaken, the new round-based Zombies map coming from Treyarch, could be the best Black Ops Cold War Zombies map yet. It sounds amazing - really - and here's everything you need to know about the next entry in the Dark Aether Storyline.
ANYTOWN, USA - They're dying to meet you!
Anytown, USA, is the fictional American town that features in the "Redlight, Greenlight" mission during Black Ops Cold War's campaign. We're still waiting on a dedicated "Zombies Trailer" from Treyarch, but they have shared a postcard-like image confirming that this is the location of the next Zombies map.
As you can see below, Anytown is the setting for Forsaken - this could mean the new round-based Zombies map features a very familiar location. We know there's going to be some portals involved, though, so there could be some new areas included.
Either way, replaying the "Redlight, Greenlight" campaign mission could be a great way to prepare for this.
NEW WONDER WEAPON - What we know so far
Forsaken is introducing a new Wonder Weapon to Cold War Zombies - the Chrysalax.
This new piece of equipment is part Dark Aether axe, part rapid-fire energy weapon, and all Zombie-killer.
"Forged in the Dark Aether, there is more to this Wonder Weapon than what appears on its surface, boasting the ability to convert between a powerful battle axe and a rapid-fire energy weapon."
You'll be able to get your hands on this in the Mystery Box, or as a Legendary Trials reward, but it'll also feature heavily in the Forsaken Easter Egg - or Main Quest if you prefer that term. We should learn more about this when the map comes out.
INTEL UPDATE - Redlight, Greenlight confirmed?
The Soviet compound that features in Black Ops Cold War's campaign mission "Redlight, Greenlight" was featured in a teaser last week, but now it looks like it has been confirmed as the location of the next Call of Duty Zombies map - Forsaken.
Treyarch tweeted the following GIF, clearly showing the "Redlight, Greenlight" Soviet compound with a Dark Aether storm swirling above.
We know that there's going to be a huge Aetherium-powered portal involved, so it has to be inside... Right? If they can re-create Burger Town in there, they can re-create everything.
RELEASE DATE - When does Forsaken drop?
At the moment, Black Ops Cold War Zombies should see the Forsaken map added to its selection of round-based maps at the start of Season 6.
Season 6 is due to launch on October 7th at the following times:
- 21:00 October 6th PST
- 23:00 October 6th EST
- 04:00 October 7th BST
Like previous maps, we don't expect the Main Quest - also known as the Easter Egg - to be available at launch. This should be delayed by around 12 hours - however, we'll get confirmation of this when more "intel" drops over the next few days.
SHOCKING CONCLUSION - Is this going to be it?
Treyarch is pitching Forsaken as "the shocking conclusion to the Dark Aether story’s opening chapter" - but, what does this actually mean?
Well... It means that it's going to be the final round-based Zombies map to be added to Black Ops Cold War. However, it isn't going to be the final entry into Black Ops Cold War's Dark Aether storyline.
Previously, Treyarch announced that the Dark Aether storyline that started in Die Maschine is going to continue into Call of Duty Vanguard's Zombies mode. This means we could see Outbreak appear in Vanguard alongside a new set of round-based maps.
"With Agent Maxis understanding the path ahead of her – and her own role in determining the fate of our dimension – the stakes couldn’t possibly be higher."
We should learn a little more about what's really going on in the Dark Aether - and see a conclusion to the battle between Omega and Requiem - however, this isn't the end.
