The latest update to hit Black Ops Cold War is going to be a big one and we can't wait to dive into everything on offer. The only question we have is... How much storage space are we going to need? Here's everything we know about the Season 5 update download size and what we're expecting.
How big is the Season 5 update going to be?
UPDATE:
Black Ops Cold War's Season 5 update is roughly 14GB on current-gen consoles and 20GB on next-gen platforms.
At the moment, we don't know for certain how much storage space the Season 5 update is going to take up. Looking at the content roadmap, the Season 5 update is going to introduce roughly the same amount of content as Season 4, though.
This means we can use the last update as a rough estimate. Season 4 was the following sizes:
- PlayStation 5: 30 GB
- PlayStation 4: 15.5 GB
- Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S: 31.0 GB
- Xbox One: 17.7 GB
- PC: 21.6 GB (without HD Pack) / 30.7 GB (with HD Pack)
With this in mind, we're expecting something very similar for Season 5's update. We should have a confirmed Season 5 download size when Treyarch drops the Season 5 patch notes ahead of the update.
You might need to keep some more space free though to account for Call of Duty's strange copying process. You can read more about that here.
When does Season 5 drop?
UPDATE: Season 5 is now available to download on all platforms.
We don't know if you can pre-load the Black Ops Cold War Season 5 update yet, but we do know when all the content is due to be available in-game.
Season 5 is due to start on August 12th at the following times:
- 21:00 August 11th - PST
- 00:00 August 12th - EST
- 05:00 August 12th - BST
There's going to be new multiplayer maps, three new Operators, four new weapons, and a whole host of new Outbreak content in the wake of Mauer Der Toten's addition. It might not seem like a lot, but the GB's add up quick.
