An official NFL VR game is on the way to virtual reality and it's courtesy of a company called StatusPro. This game will be an officially licensed game from the NFL, similar to Madden 23.
Although the game is still in development, we should learn more as more information is released. Still, this could be a potential rival for EA in the future.
So, let's take a look at what we know so far about this NFL VR game.
NFL VR Game announcement
There's no title for the game yet, but there's a chance we'll find out in the near future. StatusPro, the company responsible, plans to turn this game into an annual series.
The NFL’s press release announced it as a first-person simulation gaming title that will be released on Meta Quest and PlayStation VR. Fans wonder if this will mean PSVR2 as well.
Troy Jones, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of StatusPRO, had this to say in a statement to Business Wire:
"Today marks an important milestone for StatusPRO and the VR industry. By partnering with the NFL, we will offer a new form of engagement between athletes and fans unlike anything in the marketplace. NFL football fans and gamers alike will be able to connect with the world of sports through authentic, immersive gaming products that democratize the experience of the professional athlete."
Features and NFL VR game release date
This game will aim to change sports gaming by providing a first-person experience to the consumer. For now, no official release date has been announced.
There are already a few VR football games, which include MVP Football, which is a licensed game by the NFL and has Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes on the cover.
However, it looks like the NFL will place its primary focus on the upcoming NFL VR game. Perhaps we'll see a reveal trailer released to the public soon.
For now, this is all we know about this game, but we'll keep you updated with any news and how it will relate to Madden 23.
