All of the changes coming to the MyTEAM mode in NBA 2K25 have been announced, and it seems NBA 2K has finally got something right, as the features might actually improve the mode.
2K managed to fix some of the community's biggest complaints, make the mode friendly for new players, and make it more entertaining for offline users. But will this be enough to make MyTEAM feel special once again?
Let's find out!
Exciting Game Modes are Coming to MyTEAM!
Three new game modes, Triple Threat Park, Breakout, and Showdown, are coming to MyTEAM in NBA 2K25.
All of them are good additions, but the Triple Threat Park mode captures the spotlight. For the first time, users will be able to play with NBA players in the Park, either controlling the three players in a user vs user battle or controlling one player, in a 6-player 3v3 Co-Op game.
It's definitely a great and unique addition to MyTEAM. It will allow players to experience the Park in a new way, using actual NBA players to compete on it, while maintaining the classic feeling of the 3V3 Park mode.
But 2K didn't stop here, introducing the Breakout mode, providing MyTEAM offline players with a new way to enjoy the mode.
In this mode, players start in the middle of a board and need to go to the edges to earn rewards. To do that, they will have to compete in Triple Threat 3v3, Clutch Time 5v5, and normal games to progress, facing current and legendary teams.
This is possibly the biggest addition for offline players in years, and it's good to see 2K also caring about their offline player base in MyTEAM. The mode gives offline players a new way to enjoy MyTEAM, so it's definitely a positive addition.
As for Showdown, it's a new version of Unlimited, where players compete to get wins, climb the leaderboards, and earn great rewards. There are 15 tiers in Showdown, and the goal is to reach tier one, to get the best rewards possible.
It's an improved version of Unlimited, which won't be game-changing, but it's still a decent addition to MyTEAM.
The Auction House is Back!
After a lot of backlash from the community, NBA 2K decided to do the right thing and bring the Auction House back.
However, this is a feature that should have never been removed, and despite some improvements to the UI, it's still an old feature that is returning, nothing groundbreaking or revolutionizing.
Improved UI and new Tutorial Mode
The MyTEAM mode is also receiving a lot of quality-of-life improvements, with a new UI, which is more intuitive, and looks quite good. Navigating the MyTEAM menus will now be easier and faster, as the menus are streamlined.
This makes it easier for players to access everything inside the mode, be it the new game modes, or the returning Auction House, and manage their lineups, among many other things.
NBA 2K had previously mentioned that one of the pillars of NBA 2K25 is accessibility, so after introducing the Learn 2K mode, it's not surprising to see that MyTEAM is also introducing a tutorial mode.
This mode will help new players learn everything about MyTEAM and also teach the basics of NBA 2K gameplay and basketball. It's a solid addition, that will certainly be very useful for new players and also make the learning curve easier.
The majority of these changes are positive, and have a good chance at revitalizing MyTEAM.
However, what's going to make or break MyTEAM are microtransactions, because if the mode continues to be pay-to-win, forcing players to spend money to be competitive, as it did in past years, then these changes won't be that consequential.
Let's hope that isn't the case.
