Earlier this week, Ubisoft and Xbox got together to make a little set of announcements that will make a lot of people very excited. Ubisoft's newest title, Rainbow Six Extraction, is coming to Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass on Day One. Siege is also launching on PC Game Pass, at long last, and Ubisoft+ is reportedly due to arrive on Xbox consoles in the future.
This is, obviously, huge for Xbox players - but what about those of us who prefer Sony's PlayStation? It feels like we're getting left out a bit, right? We want to know if Ubisoft+ is coming to PlayStation consoles, too, and here's what we know so far.
Is Ubisoft+ coming to PlayStation consoles?
At the moment, Ubisoft hasn't mentioned PlayStation at all when it comes to Ubisoft+ arriving on consoles. However, that doesn't mean it isn't coming at some point in the future.
When Ubisoft announced Ubisoft+ for Xbox consoles, it was made clear that this was going to be a separate service to Xbox Game Pass. This little detail is what makes a PlayStation arrival a little more likely. It doesn't look like Xbox and Ubisoft have entered any sort of exclusivity deal in the same sense that EA Play is fully merged with Xbox Game Pass. Here's a selection of tweets confirming this...
We know this is all speculation at the moment, but Ubisoft games are popular on PlayStation consoles and it doesn't seem as though Ubisoft is going to be merging Ubisoft+ with Xbox Game Pass anytime soon. Rainbow Six Extraction's addition to Game Pass could be a goodwill gesture, of sorts. We might see something exciting from Ubisoft pop up in next month's PS Plus or PS Now offerings if we're lucky, in an attempt to replicate this announcement for Sony's console. Only time will tell at the moment, though, but we shouldn't rule it out just yet.
What is Ubisoft+ exactly, anyway?
In an effort to explain this simply, Ubisoft+ is like Xbox Game Pass for Ubisoft games. It's only available on PC at the moment, but that looks like it's about to change.
Here's what Ubisoft has said about it - this about sums it up...
" Originally launched for PC, the service allows access to more than 100 Ubisoft titles at a single monthly cost, with games and DLC available on launch day, and monthly rewards including cosmetics, boosters, in-game items, and more."
Ubisoft+ offers players a chance to download and play Ubisoft games Day One - PlayStation consoles don't really have a service that offers this to the same extent as Xbox has Game Pass. this could be huge if Sony and Ubisoft can make it happen.
