Early on in Horizon Forbidden West's story, you're introduced to a new aspects of conversations in Guerilla's game. In some instances, you can choose how Aloy reacts to characters to alter the proceeding scenes a little. If you're wondering what to choose out of the Insight, Compassion, and Confront options in Horizon Forbidden West, we'll help you make the best decision.
What Are the Choices in Horizon Forbidden West?
Each time you're given this option, which only happens five time or so in the entire main story questline of Horizon Forbidden West, you can choose one of three replies, each of which will be accompanied by a symbol. Those are:
- Confront- Fist Icon - Choosing this will see Aloy threaten the character you're talking to. Think they'll succumb to the threat of violence? The this could be a good one to choose.
- Insight - Brain Icon - This is a choice that sees Aloy uses her smarts to pursuade the other character. By changing the way the NPC is thinking, they can both move on.
- Compassion - Heart Icon - This one is obvious. By being sympathetic and playing on the other character's emotional side, they often do what Aloy wants.
Confront, Insight, & Compassion - Which Dialogue Option to Chose
As for which option to choose when faced with the dilemma, there are two things to consider.
First, and probably most importantly, what kinda of person do you want your Aloy to be. To you, is she a threatening person, or someone with more heart and compassion?
I always build a character in an RPG in a way that makes them a rounded person who I can relate to. If you do too, choose the dialogue option that most fits the Aloy you want to develop.
Also, sometimes you can tell from a certain conversation which option is the best to choose. If you think the character you're interacting with is showing false confidence, you could maybe punch them down with the threat of violence. That doesn't always work, but it will for some choices.
At the end of the day, the choices you make in Horizon Forbidden West don't matter a great deal.
In a few instances, the choice you make will impact the fate of a character and an upcoming cutscene, but they don't change the course of the main story. They only have small impacts on the world around Aloy. Therefore, just choose whatever option you think best suits the situation.
