Sucker Punch Productions' Ghost of Tsushima is one of the best single-player PlayStation games out there right now and they've just released an improved version of the game - the Director's Cut - on the PS5! Here's everything you need to know about it ahead of launch.

LATEST - It's out right now!

Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut is out now on both PS4 and PS5. If you have trouble finding your PS5 upgrade on the PS Store, all you need to do is insert your Ghost of Tsushima PS4 disc and the PS Store should recognise that you own Ghost of Tsushima and offer you the discounted upgrade for the PS5 version of the game.

Ghost of Tsushima is a heart-wrenching tale of Jin Sakai - one of the last Samurai left on Tsushima following the Mongol Invasion - and his journey of self-discovery and adapting in the face of adversity. He struggles to balance what needs to be done and the strict honour-bound ruling of the Samurai Code - something he's lived with for his whole life.

When does Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut come out?

Ghost of Tsushima's Director's Cut release isn't too far away now. You can dive back into Ghost of Tsushima on the PS5 and experience the new content on the PS4 version of the title on August 20th.

We don't have a specific time for this, yet, but it could go one of two ways. Either, Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut could be available at 00:00 local time on the release day... Or, it could be available following the daily store refresh at around 08:00 PST / 11:00 EST / 16:00 BST.

We can imagine Sucker Punch Productions will confirm the release time in the next couple of days...

There's new content to tackle with Jin Sakai...

Iki Island is coming to Ghost of Tsushima as a post-launch content update exclusively available with the Director's Cut version of the title.

There's going to be " tons of new content including brand new environments to explore, new armour for Jin as well as his horse, new mini-games, new techniques, new enemy types, and much more. There are even new animals to pet!"

We don't know how long it will take to play through this additional content yet, but it seems to be similar in scale to Horizon Zero Dawn's Frozen Wilds expansion. This could mean we're getting up to 20 hours of additional content with the Iki Island Expansion!

This content will be available from the start of Act 2 in Ghost of Tsushima's main storyline. There's also some new Legends content coming over the next few weeks.

The PS5 version is going to have some awesome features

The Iki Island expansion isn't the only new thing coming to Ghost of Tsushima in the Director's Cut release - There's going to be a lot of new PS5-exclusive features, too!

The DualSense's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are going to play a big part in gameplay going forwards and there's going to be 3D audio features available to those with the PS5's new headset.

Improved load times, 4K resolution Graphics options, and targeted 60 FPS gameplay will also all be included. It's nothing we haven't seen before from a "PS5 Upgrade", but we can't say we're not excited to jump back into Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut after release.

There is one new feature, though, that is quite important - Japanese lip sync.

" We’ve heard your feedback about the lack of Japanese lip sync in the original version of Ghost of Tsushima, and it’s something we worked hard to address in this new release. Thanks to the PS5’s ability to render cinematics in real-time, cutscenes in Ghost of Tsushima and on Iki Island on PS5 will now offer lip sync for Japanese voice-over."

How much will it be?

Ghost of Tsushima's Director's Cut release will be available as a full game or a paid upgrade to the PS4 version of Ghost of Tsushima.

If you want to upgrade from PS4 to PS4 Director's Cut, you'll be paying around USD$ 15.

If you want to upgrade from PS4 Director's Cut to PS5 Director's Cut, you'll need to fork out around $10.

If you want to upgrade from PS4 to PS5 Director's Cut, you can pay a one-time upgrade fee of around $25.

At the moment, you can pre-order the PS4 Director's Cut upgrade on the PS Store. The PS5 upgrades, though, will only be available from August 20th onwards.
