FIFA 23 is not far away, with our first look at the game rumoured to arrive very soon.
Cross-play is already being trialled in FIFA 22, with the implementation of this brand new feature set to be a big selling point for the next instalment in the franchise.
That being said, the latest leaks regarding cross-play seem to indicate that some players will get left behind.
FIFA 23 Cross-Play
According to DonkTrading on Twitter - who has recently been sharing a host of FIFA 23 news - cross-play is set to feature heavily across all modes in FIFA 23, being available to players on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Stadia.
This means that players on old generation consoles - Xbox One and Playstation 4 - are set to be excluded.
With Ultimate Team set to be included in the list of modes that have cross-play enabled, we could be seeing a very different FUT market in the brand new game.
This news is sure to delight many next-gen players, giving them the opportunity to connect with friends like never before.
This news does, however, leave a bitter taste for old generation console players, with one of FIFA 23's biggest selling points rumoured to exclude them entirely.
Cross-Play Testing LIVE in FIFA 22
EA confirmed that cross-play testing will take place in FIFA 22, and it is now live across the included platforms.
Once the cross-play test is activated and you’re in the main menu of FIFA 22, you can find a widget in the bottom right-hand corner that can be opened with the corresponding button prompt, as pictured below.
From here, you can simply follow the button prompt to enable or disable your cross-play test participation.
In this widget, you can also search for friends regardless of their platform, and you can also block and/or mute someone if desired.
You can also control your Cross-play test participation by visiting the Matchmaking Options Settings screen, as pictured below.
It is as simple as playing with a friend online now, but with a couple of extra settings!
