Ubisoft's next Far Cry game is going to be fantastic - and that's not just because Giancarlo Esposito is portraying the main villain. We're slowly learning more about Far Cry 6 as we approach release and Ubisoft has just shared a brand new Story Trailer - It's time to dive into what's going on in Yara. Dictatorships and Revolution shape Far Cry 6 - Guerrilla fighting has never seemed more exciting. Here's the latest on what we learned during Gamescom 2021's Opening Night Live...
STORY TRAILER - What is Far Cry 6 really about?
Anton Castillo is at the centre of the new Far Cry 6 trailer and - as you can imagine - he plays the perfect villain. Finally, though, we actually get to see Dani Rojas - the playable protagonist - in more detail.
Far Cry 6 is all about an uprising against Yaran Dictator Anton Castillo - However, we learn a little bit about why he's doing what he does. It all paints for an interesting story in which - we hope - we'll be able to navigate freely with Dani Rojas.
For now, though, here's the latest trailer:
Far Cry 6 is due to release in October 2021 - not long left, guerrillas!
When does Opening Night Live actually start?
Gamescom 2021 is technically starting today, with the Xbox Gamescom 2021 Stream later, but Opening Night Live is due to "kick things off" at the following times:
- 11:00 August 25th - PST
- 14:00 August 25th - EST
- 19:00 August 25th - BST
Geoff Keighley, the event's host, has confirmed that Far Cry 6 is going to feature alongside Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, a new Saints Row game from Deep Silver, Call of Duty Vanguard, Genshin Impact, and a whole host of other titles.
There's going to be around thirty, in total, apparently, and the showcase itself is expected to be a couple of hours long. Better grab a comfortable chair and some popcorn, then!
What do we expect from Far Cry 6?
At the moment, the only thing we know about regarding Far Cry 6 is the fact that we're going to see the premiere of the Far Cry 6 Story Trailer. With Far Cry 6 being pushed back to October 2021, we don't think we're going to see any updates regarding the release date - fingers crossed!
As for gameplay, we might get a glimpse of it during the Story Trailer - however, we're expecting this to be more of a cinematic experience.
Far Cry 6 is just one of thirty games, so it's hard to imagine there's going to be a lot of time spare to discuss the finer details of Ubisoft's upcoming title during Opening Night Live. That doesn't mean there won't be anything to say, though. It's going to be worth keeping an eye on Ubisoft's socials for an update during - or after - the show.
