UPDATE: There was no new news! Gamescom showed a minute of Aloy gameplay and talked about the Genshin Impact Concert coming October 3rd.

Original Story Below...

The latest Special Program Announcement from miHoYo was just days ago, so what's Genshin Impact going to share with us at Gamescom 2021?

Gamescom 2021's Opening Night Live is right around the corner and we've got everything you need to know about what to expect from Genshin Impact and when to expect it.

UPDATE - Is Genshin Impact coming to Switch?!

We don't know for sure, but there are rumblings that Genshin Impact might be landing on Nintendo's Switch consoles soon. The latest Special Program Announcement from miHoYo laid out a lot of the information we expected for Genshin Impact 2.1 and we can't really think of why they would save something about 2.1 for Opening Night Live.

People want to see another collaboration - after Aloy's announcement as a PlayStation Exclusive Genshin Impact playable character - but Genshin Impact on Nintendo Switch is the news we're all expecting.

In the meantime... Fishing?

When is Opening Night Live due to start?

Gamescom 2021 might - technically - be starting with Xbox's stream this evening, but Opening Night Live is due to take place at the following times:

  • 11:00 August 25th - PST
  • 14:00 August 25th - EST
  • 19:00 August 25th - BST

Geoff Keighley - the host of the Opening Night Live showcase - has confirmed that Genshin Impact is due to appear alongside Call of Duty Vanguard, Far Cry 6, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and a new saints row game - among others.

The Opening Night Live showcase itself is going to be around two hours in its entirety and is said to feature over thirty games in total. This might mean we only get a trailer from miHoYo regarding Genshin Impact, but it should be worth keeping an eye out for either way.

What are we expecting to see from Genshin Impact?

At the moment, we don't really know what to expect from miHoYo and Genshin Impact during Gamescom 2021's Opening Night Live. Genshin Impact's recent Special Program Announcement was only a handful of days ago and that offered us a fantastic look at everything on the way in Genshin Impact 2.1.

We can only imagine that we're going to learn more about any new upcoming gameplay features - like fishing, for example - and a little bit more about the future of the narrative being developed with the Raiden Shogun on Inazuma.

We don't know how popular Aloy's appearance in Genshin Impact is, but we could be about to see another collaboration from miHoYo and... Someone - maybe Sony, again. Ghost of Tsushima's Jin Sakai would fit well in the world of Genshin Impact, wouldn't he?
