Bethesda is one of the biggest publishers in the world for RPGs. With Elder Scrolls doing incredibly well and Starfield on the way this year, we're looking forward to Fallout 5. Here's what we know about it so far.
LATEST - Showcase could be long
Twitter user Idle Sloth spotted that the invite for the Xbox and Bethesda showcase was 90 minutes long. There's a chance this could be true
In response to this, VGC reported that Microsoft are still finalising their time and this was likely a placeholder. We'll have to get closer to the show to find out!
Xbox and Bethesda Showcase
After a long wait, we are due to see an Xbox and Bethesda showcase in a few short weeks on June 12th.
Hopefully, we'll see some news about Fallout 5.
Fallout 76 Roadmap planned
In an interview with AusGamer, Fallout 76's design director Mark Tucker revealed that they have a five year roadmap for the game.
This is a good sign for the future of Fallout as a whole and a good sign of long-term usage of the IP. Although not Fallout 5, their commitment to the universe is worth noting.
Fallout 5 Mentioned by Todd Howard
In an interview with IGN, Howard went as far as to confirm that a 'one-pager' exists for Fallout 5. For anyone confused about what a one-pager is, it's a stage long before even pre-production. It's likely a single A4 document that probably has some ambitious ideas, many of which may never make it into the final product.
This one-pager will go on to inspire the full design document that starts to flesh out ideas before the studio officially commits to the project and greenlights production. This could be quite the blow for Fallout fans who hoped to see the franchise return sometime before 2025 but the reality is that Bethesda doesn't do anything quickly.
With Redfall and The Elder Scrolls 6 due sometime over the next 4 years and Starfield due in November 2022, it's hard to imagine being anything other than a mid-to-late generation release. We still strongly believe it will release while the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles are the place to play.
Fallout 5 Setting
When looking at where Fallout 5 could take place, we'd love to see the London modding community acknowledged and possibly bring the game into a new country entirely. This would, however, be a trickier sell and it's likely that the game won't stray too far from its post-apocalyptic US environments.
Perhaps New York could provide the backdrop for the next game. We'd love to see the dense mainland given the Fallout treatment to see what they could do with all the added verticality.
