Do you need PlayStation Plus to play Rocket League?
The great news for everyone involved is that no, you won't need PlayStation Plus or any other online subscription to play Rocket League. Ever since Psyonix was acquired by epic games, the entire game is now free-to-play, and the only payment you need to make is the optional premium Rocket Pass.
Issues may arise however if you bought the game early, while it was available for free on PlayStation Plus. In this case, if your subscription has expired, the game will no longer run.
If you're one of those few, all you need to do is delete the game and redownload it from the store, which will be completely free. You'll be able to play online with friends from other platforms too, as the game is now full crossplay.
PlayStation Plus Perks
All that being said, there are still some perks for Rocket League players who are subscribed to PlayStation Plus. You'll be able to claim your free and exclusive PS Plus bundle in the store right now, for loads of in-game items.
You can claim your Playstation Plus Pack on your console by following the below steps.
- Go to the PlayStation Store on your console
- Search for Rocket League
- Select the Rocket League PlayStation Plus Pack icon
- Select Claim
- Launch the game
- Claim the item in-game.
