The Legend of Zelda is a franchise with pedigree behind its name. Known for branching out with different art styles, gameplay formulas and so much more, it's hard to tell where it will go next. This being said, we just reached its 35 year anniversary so it's time to look back "to the past", so to speak.

Some recent rumours have hinted at something very big for its future and just in time for the E3 2021 Nintendo Direct.

What are the Legend of Zelda Collection Rumours?

There are a few central rumours and most of them point to some big happenings for GameStop. Recently, in preparation for June 15th, they have been prepping the site and advertisements for something. That is today, the same day as the Nintendo Direct.

This could all just be speculation so that's worth keeping in mind but Spawn Wave and Jeff Grub, both well-respected figures, have talked about it. As well as this, a recent poster has leaked from GameStop, talking all about The Legend of Zelda's 35th anniversary. This has sparked rumours of a celebratory Zelda collection.

What Games Could We See?

This is a hard question but, given Nintendo's past, we have some pretty good guesses. Last year, they released Super Mario 3D All Stars, a 3D collection of Mario games that were only available for a limited time. This was very successful for Nintendo so we could see a very similar system for Zelda.

This could go a few directions but perhaps a remaster of Ocarina of Time, alongside Majora's Mask would make the most sense. Being two of the most highly regarded games in the series, this would essentially be very similar to the collection we saw on GameCube.

This being said, maybe it's time to see a resurgence for the cartoony games with Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks or perhaps some of the games we saw remastered on the 3DS. Either way, we're mere moments away from the showcase, they could show us anything. Keep your eyes peeled for all the latest announcements.
