Career Mode received its biggest revamp in years as EA introduced a host of new features and changes to FC 25, signalling a much-needed upgrade for the beloved game mode.
One of those new features included the post-launch addition of Live Start Points, enabling players to begin their Career Mode save from selected dates across domestic leagues. However, it is currently being let down by two annoying flaws which spoil the fun.
Live Start Points Overshadowed by Major Flaws
Briefly putting the various bugs and glitches to one side, EA's vision for Career Mode in FC 25 represented a step in the right direction for much of the community. Live Start Points is just one of the many new additions that resemble progress, but it is already unable to reach its full potential.
As many players are beginning to highlight, new Squad Updates do not apply to pre-existing Live Start Points. For example, if you select a Live Start Point which was available before the latest Squad Update, any changes within that Squad Update will not apply to the Career Mode save.
One Reddit user noticed this when selecting Barcelona manager Hansi Flick from the Live Start Point menu, before realising that his authentic face scan was only available when starting a fresh new season.
Another downside of the feature is the inability to select the board's strictness level in Manager Career Mode. When starting from scratch, players can choose between Strict, Harsh, Lenient, or No Sacking. However, this option is not available in Live Start Points. This means users are unable to customise the experience to their liking and run the risk of getting sacked, even if they don’t wish to be.
While the concept of Live Start Points is great, the same cannot be said for its execution so far. It is a feature with huge potential and it can become a real game changer for Career Mode players, but there’s still work to be done for that to happen.
