Careers are an important core part of The Sims 4. Heading out to work takes up the bulk of most days and it's where the variety comes in EA and Maxis' game.
Whether you're an actor, artist, or anything else, the learning and developing from a career is a vital part your sim's life.
They're also core parts of expansions packs, which introduce new jobs and lifestyles that are themed around them. Just recently, the Cottage Living pack added the ability to become a farmer and rear a selection of animals.
However, we think they could go further and that careers in The Sims 5 could let you dream BIG!
Royalty in The Sims 5
In the Sims 5 Reddit's weekly features wishlist SamaraSadako said that they'd like to "be a King/Queen. Something like a Royal" and we totally agree.
While it would be tough for it to be simply a career, where you just decide one day that you want to be the King or Queen, it would work as a decision that's made from the start of a sim's life, but works as a career later one.
Royal ceremonies, large events, and amazing palaces could all be added to flesh out the career and life path as a whole.
There's even a mod for The Sims 4 that focuses on just this, so there's clearly an appetite for it. Since it's detached from the standard every date stuff, such as dating and commuting, the royalty career in The Sims 5 could be perfect for anyone "feeling bored with Sims 4 gameplay and longing for a break from everyday life," as the mod's creator puts it.
The mod even allows you to do the menial tasks of being a member of royalty, such as giving titles to other characters and imposing a tax system. They might not be the sole responsibility of a King or Queen in real life, but it's a fun addition for a potential career path.
Other High Profile Careers
Thinking BIG when it comes to careers in The Sims 5 doesn't have to stop at royalty either - it could work for any high profile job. President, World Champion sports person, or anything else with a worldwide appeal.
Again, starting those careers would have to work in a slightly different way to make them even slightly realistic, but what's stopping The Sims 5 offering any kind of dream job, no matter how unrealistic it would be in the real world.
Of course, some players would still prefer the more standard jobs as they mirror real life more closely, but it'd be great to have more options for the dreamers out there.
None of us are going to be a King or Queen in our own lifetimes, so let's give that chance to our sims.
After multiplayer and a more realistic world, which we've spoken about before, this would be the next cool new feature to include in The Sims 5.
