The next installment in the legendary horror franchise, Resident Evil Village, is finally out this week.
So that you can jump into the action as early as possible, we've got a breakdown of when you can preload the game and what time the game unlocks.
How to Preload
If you've bought the eighth mainline Resident Evil game digitally, you'll be able to download it ahead of time on consoles.
If you bought the game on Xbox systems, you should be able to preload Resident Evil Village now. On PlayStation, preload goes live on May 5, so should be possible now too.
On PC, though, no time has been revealed, so it's possible that you'll have to wait until release day to download it.
If you've pre-ordered the game on console, or pre-order now, you should be able to download the game right away, letting you jump in as soon as the game releases on May 7.
Resident Evil Village Release Time
As for the exact time that your preload of Resident Evil Village will unlock, the release time is set for midnight your local time on May 7.
On PC, that time might be later in the day, but we'll let you know once it has been confirmed.
If you preload the game, you'll then be able to jump into the new story as soon as your clock hits that release time.
File Download Size
The file download sizes of Resident Evil Village have also been revealed ahead of release. They are:
- PS4 - 29.4 GB
- Xbox - 27.11 GB
- PS5 - 27.4 GB
- PC - Not yet confirmed
Thankfully, that's a lot smaller than other modern AAA games, so it shouldn't take up much space on your hard drive, unless it's already full of Call of Duty games.
We'll confirm the PC download size of Resident Evil Village once it's known.
