Following their Air Max Penny 1 collaboration earlier this year, Social Status has revealed a new Air Max Penny 2 capsule titled the "Playground" is coming our way in partnership with Nike.
The Penny 2s have been rumoured for a while; however, they've now officially been confirmed via Instagram and look as though they could feature in and amongst some of the best Air Max sneakers upon their arrival.
Design-wise, the "Playground" 2s rock similar colour schemes to the "Recess Black" and "Photon Dust" Penny 1s; however, there are a few key differences with the sequel, most notable the number of references to the legendary career of Penny Hardaway.

Social Status x Nike Air Max Penny 2 Playground Release Date
The Social Status Penny 2s have had somewhat of a difficult launch thus far as they were originally supposed to drop on 30 September 2022.
However, things got pushed back, resulting in the Penny 2s dropping on 13 October as confirmed by the Social Status Instagram. That means they're out now if you're interested in picking up a pair.
In-store and online raffles re-opened on 9 October as well, offering you the chance to purchase the sneakers before they sell out.
Don't worry if you've already entered the raffle though as all previous entries remain valid, meaning you don't have to re-enter if you already submitted an entry in-store, online, or on Discord.
With this in mind, let's take a closer look at the "Playground" designs...
Social Status x Nike Air Max Penny 2 Playground Designs
As touched on, the Social Status Penny 2s appear to be a visual sequel to the Penny 1s released earlier this year, with the shoes adopting similar white and black colour schemes with grey accents.
The biggest difference between the two capsules though is the introduction of the light blue tone found consistently across both the white and black iterations.
The shoes also feature embroidered work highlighting the heritage of Penny Hardaway, which is then capped off by the special edition Lil' Penny toy-inspired shoe boxes the sneakers come in.
Other notable details include the Air branding on the toe caps plus the bespoke Nike and Social Status co-branding on the collars.
Social Status has also added custom metal hang tags for the shoes in bronze and black to round off the design and complete the collaboration in a completely unique fashion.

As part of the Social Status update on the release date, the brand also revealed that the Penny 2s cost $200 in adult sizing.
