PS Plus December 2021 Predictions: Were we right this month?

We made our predictions for December 2021's PS Plus games and it looks like PlayStation has once again chosen to ignore our suggestions. That doesn't mean the games on offer are bad though! Here's everything you need to know.

CONFIRMED - December 2021 PS Plus Games

The leaks were right - shocker, we know - and the following games are going to be available in December 2021's PS Plus line-up:

  • Godfall (PS5)
  • Mortal Shell (PS4)
  • LEGO DC Super Villains (PS4)

It's certainly not a bad selection and there should be enough content there to keep you playing over the festive period. However, we hope PlayStation open up 2022 with something truly unmissable. There are better games out there.

UPDATE - Announcement Time, Later Today

PlayStation should announce their next month's PS Plus games later today at the following times:

  • 08:30 December 1st PST
  • 11:30 December 1st EST
  • 16:30 December 1st GMT

PS Plus announcements might not be on a tight schedule, but they're always around a week before the games themselves are due to be made available. We don't think there's a State of Play Presentation on the way to disrupt anything - so, we should see the announcement later today in preparation for next week.

New leaks suggest a blockbuster month

PS Plus games are always a little hit or miss - sometimes we get a fantastic month and sometimes it's severely lacking. Next month, thankfully, looks like it could be one of the better months we've had this year.

French gaming site Dealabs has leaked the following games for December 2021's PS Plus offerings - it's a little different from our predictions, too.

  • Godfall (PS5)
  • Mortal Shell (PS4)
  • LEGO DC Super Villains (PS4)

TROUBLED - Godfall never really took off so this could be huge

It's worth taking all of this with a pinch of salt until we find out for sure, but Dealabs has been right in the past and they could be right this time too.

What games do we know about so far?

Last month's additional PSVR titles are carrying over into December 2021 - this means we're going to see another six-game month of PS Plus games. At the moment, we're not aware of any new PSVR titles being added to the service. This means the following PSVR games are going to be available in next month's line-up:

  • The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners (PSVR)
  • The Persistence (PSVR)
  • Until You Fall (PSVR)

You can read more about them in the Tweet below:

It helps to flesh out the roster of PS Plus games for December 2021, but only really matters if you're one of the few people who own a PSVR headset.

PREDICTIONS - What do we think we're getting?

Predicting PS Plus games is never easy - PlayStation has quite a big library of games now and it's always growing. With that in mind, we do usually get one PS5 game and two PS4 games - that helps to narrow things down a little bit. Here's what we think we're getting, either way.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a newer title, but one that could be in dire need of a boost from being on PS Plus. It's got the Aliens IP behind it and a solid gameplay format of shooting anything that moves with your squad in a dungeon-like environment. There's great customisation and a loose narrative tying it all together. However, its player base is in decline and it is a game that needs an active player base. As next month's PS5 title, it could get a much-needed new lease of life going into 2022.

In addition to this, we think it's time that Far Cry 5 shows up as a PS Plus game. This isn't the latest Far Cry title, but it's far from a bad one. Far Cry 5 - and Far Cry New Dawn, for that matter - are almost always on sale and it's only a matter of time before PlayStation throw this into their PS Plus line-up. You can also recruit a Grizzly Bear named Cheeseburger to your team - so, why wouldn't you want this?

Finally, we're going to throw a little game called Uncharted: The Lost Legacy at you to round out our predictions for December 2021's PS Plus line-up. We know we say this one a lot, but Lost Legacy is a great game. It follows Uncharted 2's Chloe and Uncharted 4's Nadine on a new blockbuster adventure that shows us how great the Uncharted series really can be if it sidelines Nathan Drake. Please, PlayStation... Gimmie that.
