Shiny Pokémon Odds in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Similar to other entries in the series, Shiny Pokémon have a chance to appear at a rate of 1 in 4,096 in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. This means that for every 4,096 Pokémon you encounter in the wild, you should see one Shiny Pokémon.
But thanks to Game Freak, Pokémon Legends: Arceus' developers, Shiny hunting has become even easier due to several new features that can improve your odds.
Thanks to popular dataminer Anubis on Twitter, there is now more concrete information on what the rates for Shiny hunting are, and how they're changed by different items, events, and more.
First and foremost, completing the entire Pokédex will significantly increase your Shiny odds when it comes to specific points of progress. For each species, reaching Species Research Level 10 will improve your Shiny odds to 1 in 2,048.25, - a Species Research Perfect cuts it down even more, at odds of 1 in 1,024.3.
There are also several other ways for players to improve their Shiny odds, including the Shiny Charm item and Mass Outbreak events around the world.
What are Shiny Charms?
Players can pick up Shiny Charms after completing the base level of the Pokédex, reaching Research level 10 with every Pokémon in the game.
The item provides an extra boost to getting Research Level 10 and improves your base Shiny odds. With the Shiny Charm, players have a 1 in 819.6 chance to encounter Shiny Pokémon, which will be permanent. You can also combine the Shiny Charm Boost to a Species Research Perfect encounter as well, improving the odds to 1 in 585.57.
What are Mass Outbreaks?
Mass Outbreaks are a special event on the map that has specific species of Pokémon spawn constantly in a set area for a specific amount of time, giving a different kind of boost for Shiny hunting.
Mass Outbreaks provide an additional boost of 25 to any odds, meaning that it adds 25 to the roll count, making base Shiny odds 1 in 158.02, and getting as low as 1 in 128.49 with all of the other boosts combined.
It's safe to say that Shiny Hunters will have their hands full in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. While the game makes for better odds than ever in the series to see Shiny Pokémon, it also means there's plenty of hunting to get to and ways to optimize your search.
