NHL 23 Update 1.3 Patch Notes (November 15)

Less than one week after dropping NHL 23 Update 1.2 with a handful of adjustments, it's time for NHL 23 Update 1.3 to arrive.

Announced via the EA website and NHL 23 Community Manager Clappy, the NHL 23 Update 1.3 Patch Notes have revealed crossplay is finally on deck.

Before the launch of NHL 23, one of their most hyped features was the addition of crossplay via cross-platform matchmaking.

It even got plenty of focus in the trailer, but development stalled to the point that the feature didn't make it into the game for launch and is one fans have been waiting to try for weeks.

That wait is finally about to be over, as NHL 23 Update 1.3 is set to deploy on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, likely in the early morning hours.

Download size is not yet known, but with crossplay implemented across multiple game modes this could be one of the more significantly sized updates this year.

It's also worth further clarifying that the implementation of crossplay will allow for matchmaking only within the same generation (Xbox One vs PS4, PS5 vs Xbox Series X|S).

Without further ado, here are the full NHL 23 Update 1.3 Patch Notes:

Presentation

  • Added team-branded on-ice projections for all NHL team arenas for usage during intro sequences

World of CHEL

  • Added cross-platform matchmaking

Hockey Ultimate Team

  • Added cross-platform matchmaking
  • Fixed an issue causing incorrect matchmaking in HUT Champions

Franchise Mode

  • Fixed an issue where draft picks were not transferring after a successful offer sheet

Crossplay Release Schedule

While this update will fully deploy cross-platform matchmaking in-game, the activation of it across various game modes will be done in phases.

Phase 1, which includes Ones Eliminator and HUT Rush, will be the first game modes to go live with crossplay in NHL 23.

More will continue to be added over the coming days until things are fully rolled out across all online game modes by November 28, 2022.

However, it's worth noting that these dates could change if the deployment of crossplay faces any technical issues.

The goal of the schedule is likely not to overwhelm their system as new tech is truly put to the test, and as such they may choose to push back mode activations should problems arise.
