The Ascent is a cyberpunk-themed ARPG from Neon Giant and is being published by Curve Digital. It will be an Xbox console exclusive, releasing on Xbox Game Pass day one but also on PC.
If you're planning on grabbing the game either via Game Pass on PC or Steam, here are the system requirements you'll need to meet in order to have a smooth experience.
The Ascent Minimum Requirements
As with any new PC game, The Ascent has a set of minimum requirements you'll need to meet to even get the game running at all. Here is what they are;
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 10 x64
- Processor: Intel Core Intel Core i5-3470 (4 * 3200) or equivalent / AMD FX-8350 (4 * 4000) or equivalent
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: GeForce GTX 660 ( 2048 MB) / Radeon R9 390X (8192 MB)
- Storage: 35 GB available space
- Additional Notes: Minimum Specification listed above allows gameplay experience close to 30 FPS on average while using 1080p resolution and lowest settings
As you can see from the additional notes section, this really is the bare minimum to get the game running at 1080p resolution. That being said, there is some dated hardware in this list so it appears that The Ascent can run on fairly old machines is necessary.
The Ascent Recommended Requirements
Now for the experience that the developers want you to have. Here are the recommended PC specifications for playing The Ascent;
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 10 x64
- Processor: Intel Core i9-9900k (8 * 3600) or equivalent /AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (8 * 3600) or equivalent
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: Geforce RTX 2080 (8192 MB) / Radeon RX 6800 XT (16384 MB)
- Storage: 35 GB available space
- Additional Notes: Recommended Specification listed above allows gameplay experience close to 60 FPS on average while using 1080p resolution and overall “High” settings:
There is a noticeable upgrade in the requirements to run the game to recommended specs. We've jumped from a GTX 660 to an RTX 2080 which is no small leap.
Naturally, you're going to want to have the best experience possible when playing, so if you're unsure what settings to use, you can always ask GeForce Experience to pick for you (if you have an Nvidia GPU).
