Is Hogwarts Legacy a Harry Potter Prequel?

Luckily for fans though, there's some visual aid coming. Hogwarts Legacy is a Harry Potter prequel and is set in the same timeline as the stories we all know and love. Unfortunately, the characters we've met so far will not make an appearance.

This means that while much of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade will be recognisable, it won't be exactly the same. For fans keen on delving into the lore of the Wizarding World, this is an opportunity like no other.

When is the Game Set?

Hogwarts Legacy is set in the 1800s, around 150 years before we meet the iconic trio in the books. You'll be tasked with uncovering a 'hidden truth' of the Wizarding World, which suggests you'll be faced with and discovering the dark forces of the time.

Much of the emphasis in gameplay, however, will be on experiencing life as a Hogwarts student. Where you choose to take your talents, and what you wish to learn, seems very much up to you.
