Word from the devs
Gfinity spoke with Mattias Engstrom, Game Director, and Forest Swartout Large, Executive Producer for Hitman 3.
Large said:
"The way that it came about was a passion from two of our game designers.
“It's a completely crazy proposition. It's insane. We had to touch every shader, every interaction, every feature, every visual and auditory moment. I mean, it's just like every single area of the game we had to revisit, touch or redo at times, and then re-test.
Engstrom said:
“We need to make sure it plays well and is as comfortable as it could be without getting nauseous. That's been a really huge challenge,”
“All of the puzzles have been done in third-person, but now you're in first-person, so striking a balance between fast and smooth gameplay and immersion, that's been a challenge and hard to nail. But I think we landed in a spot where I'm having such a wonderful time playing in VR, it's pretty damn cool.”

PS VR
Yes, it's true, Hitman 3 will be available on PS VR.
Playing VR, you'll be playing first-person and seeing the world literally through the eyes of Agent 47.
For the experience to be fluid, Agent 47's VR height was adjusted to get a perfect view of the world.
His moves have also been improved to be as realistic as possible!
Not only that, but the world itself has also become more realistic.
The NPCs are deeper and smarter, and you'll need to pay more attention to certain moves, considering Agent 47 won't do them automatically.

Disguises are a central part of the game, and Agent 47 is a man of seven crafts when he needs to keep his disguises, whether serving drinks or cleaning tables in the kitchen.
Normally, these moves would be done automatically, but in VR this will not happen.

You're going to have to clean the tables and make the necessary moves so you don't blow your disguises!
A fantastic feature is the ability to import in locations from the previous title in the Hitman series, letting you experience the likes of Miami, New York City or even Colombia!
As for playability, the VR compatibility is included with both the PS4 and PS5 versions.
Oculus Quest & PC
Although Hitman 3 will be playable on PS VR, there is no such luck for PC players as of yet.
Despite "Hitman GO" releasing on Oculus Go back in 2016, there is no news on whether the 2021 title will be available on Oculus devices.
Never say never, however, with game updates always a possibility of bringing Hitman 3 on VR to PC players.
Day 1 Patch
IO interactive have confirmed that Hitman 3 will be getting day 1 patch, which will add many pieces of content to the game, including the levels that aren't included in the base game installation.
"HITMAN 3 will require a day one patch for all disc users. The day one patch will be automatically applied to digital players. This patch will include access to the VR mode for PlayStation users and will include the remaining locations that are not included on the disc."
