EA and Dice have confirmed that Battlefield 6 is in development and that it is set to release in 2021.
The studio isn't prepared to share much information about it yet, with more "to show you in the coming months."
Battlefield 6 Release
What they have confirmed is that Battlefield 6 is being worked on by the biggest team ever and that you'll be able to play the game later this year.
Oskar Gabrielson, General Manager at DICE said, "we’re really excited to have the biggest Battlefield development team ever working on our console and PC game for this Holiday season."
UK based Criterion are helping out Dice on the development, with them "creating a jaw-dropping experience for you to enjoy later in 2021."
Gabrielson also says that Battlefield 6 (which isn't the confirmed name) will be more impressive than any previous games in the series.
The blog post on EA's website says: "We’re in daily playtesting mode right now: polishing, balancing, and making the best possible Battlefield game we can. I can tell you it is a bold step. It has everything we love about Battlefield – and takes all of it to the next level. Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction. Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before. All brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs."
Battlefield Mobile
Dice has also revealed that a mobile Battlefield experience will be coming in 2022, with a reveal of that also due to come later this year.
It's being produced in collaboration with Industrial Toys and will be, "a completely different game from the one we’re making for console and PC, designed specifically for the mobile platform."
Much like Battlefield 6, hopefully we'll see a reveal of Battlefield Mobile at EA Play this summer.
