Minecraft has come an awful long way over the last few years and the Minecraft 1.19 update is set to only make it bigger. Here's what we know so far.
Latest - 2022 is now here
Now that 2022 is here, we've got no updates in the way between now and the wild. It seems likely we will see some information soon.
We'll update you right here as soon as we know.
Minecraft 1.19 Update Release Date
Minecraft 1.19, The Wild Update, wasn't given a specific release date at Minecraft Live 2021. Instead, we got a release date window. Worse, a very vague one.
Minecraft 1.19 will arrive in 2022, the kind of release date window we got from Minecraft Live 2020 with the Caves and Cliffs Update.
The Caves and Cliffs update was eventually split into two parts, with the first arriving on June 8th, 2021, and the second part scheduled for the holiday season.
With The Wild being significantly less expansive than Caves and Cliffs, we expect it won't need as much development time and should come out in the first half of 2022.
Our estimate would be for Minecraft 1.19 to release in May.
New Content in The Wild
Minecraft 1.19 offers a ton of new content, from new biomes, biome redesigns, new mobs, and plenty more.
The Wild will feature the following new content and changes:
Biomes
Minecraft 1.19 will introduce the Mangrove forest, massive upgrades to Swamp biomes, and new Deep Dark biomes to expand underground and in caves.
These new biomes will feature new blocks as well as new mobs.
Mobs
The Wild is an apt title, as Minecraft 1.19 brings some new wildlife and enemies to add some flare to its new biomes and beyond.
This includes Wardens which were delayed once again, pushed back from Minecraft Caves and Cliffs. Along with Wardens we will get Tadpole and Frog mobs which adapt to their biomes offering many different types.
Community Mob Vote
Minecraft Live 2021 may have been headlined by the Minecraft 1.19 The Wild update, but it wasn't the only big news from the event.
A community vote during the event also decided the next new mob coming to Minecraft, and the winner was the Allay.
Allays will be a very unique Minecraft mob, gathering materials based on the block given to them. Allays will bring gathered materials to Note Blocks players play thanks to their love of music.
We don't have a release date for when the Allay will arrive in Minecraft, but for many, it was the most exciting new mob revealed at Minecraft Live 2021!
