Madden 23 Face of the Franchise bugs break mode after one season

Madden 23 Face of the Franchise was poised to be one of this year's highlights, but bugs and glitches have begun to plague players.

Here's everything we know so far about the biggest issues in Madden 23 Face of the Franchise and what EA has said about when they'll be fixed.

Madden 23 Face of the Franchise is great until it breaks

Between a preview in the Madden 23 Closed Beta and our experience at Early Access up to launch, Face of the Franchise was a clear highlight this year.

We emphasized as much in our Madden 23 Review, but some of the mode's biggest problems don't actually appear until deep into a save.

We made it through three seasons before the entire mode fell apart and forced retirement, but that's still farther than some are getting.

After our third season, Face of the Franchise seemed to break and the only Free Agency offer was from "NFL" which we had no choice but to accept to get to the next screen.

After advancing a few weeks into the season, it became clear the only thing the mode was going to allow at that point was retirement.

Career Mode bugs making it unplayable after one season, EA responds

While we got to experience three full seasons before things broke, many Madden 23 players are having their Face of the Franchise saves die after just one.

Multiple posts have showed up on the EA Answers forum detailing gamebreaking issues with Face of the Franchise freezing or crashing.

One post about freezes facing many players includes a response by Community Manager EA_Illium with details on a possible fix, but several players followed up saying the suggestions didn't solve their problem.

Another post detailed how the mode would get stuck in a loop with a broken save after signing a contract, which has only one response by EA from last week to clarify the issue.

As of now there are at least five different threads on the EA Answers forum specific to the Face of the Franchise bugs around re-signing after one season or crashing/freezing entirely.

So far, the only response from EA on the forum have been to ask for additional info from players (platform, network, bug details) or to simply say they're aware of issues and working on them.

A small Madden 23 August Title Update has already been released, but the extremely minimal drop only addressed a few minor gameplay and stability issues.

Unfortunately, EA has not given any indication on when these issues will be fixed, but it's possible they'll be addressed in the September Title Update.
