The Madden 22 Scouting Update has finally landed after significant anticipation and constant delays, but unfortunately it's not been the smoothest arrival.
There are multiple reports of Madden 22 crashing after the Scouting Update, a new Franchise Bug has appeared, and many fans are unhappy with the Draft Logic.
Madden 22 keeps crashing after Scouting Update
Easily the most blatant problem that has appeared since the Madden 22 Scouting Update went live is increased reports of Madden 22 crashing.
While a crashing issue had previously appeared on Xbox Series X|S, it wasn't limited to Madden 22 and seemed to be a console problem rather than game-related.
However, since the Madden 22 Scouting Update deployed there are increasing reports from users on both Xbox Series X|S and PS5 that the game is just crashing entirely.
Some players have reported it happens when doing Goal Line plays, others had crashes in Play Selection, and it's occurred in various game modes including Head-to-Head online and Connected Franchise Mode.
EA has acknowledged the issue to some extent via the EA Help account, but only stated they are aware of and investigating these issues.
Unfortunately, there is no known fix yet for Madden 22 crashing on Xbox Series X|S and PS5.
Franchise Bug appears to delete save files, but there's an easy fix
In what could be a very scary issue to encounter, we've been able to confirm a frequently recurring Franchise Bug that initially appears to delete save files.
The bug happens exclusively to Online Franchise Mode Saves, and not to those saved Offline, where a Connection Error occurs when trying to advance to the week of the NFL Draft.
After the error you'll find yourself booted back to the save selection screen where all the saves have mysteriously vanished and seemingly been deleted.
The good news is that they aren't gone, but you'll have to force quit the game and relaunch or power cycle your console to reload Madden 22 fresh in order to get them back.
We've got more details here on how to fix this issue and what it looks like in Franchise Mode.
Madden 22 Scouting Update brings heavy criticism of Draft Logic
Draft Logic and Trade Logic are frequent punching bags for most fans, as both have been riddled with issues for years and often make seemingly nonsensical decisions.
With the Madden 22 Scouting Update being so heavily focused on the NFL Draft, there were high hopes that Draft Logic would be significantly improved.
Several players have complained about the Draft Logic now visible in Mock Drafts, including this one on Reddit where Washington is predicted to select two QBs back-to-back with the first two picks in the NFL Draft.
More players confirmed issues like this in the replies, with some pointing out a longstanding issue of offensive line draft picks being extremely poor while defensive tackle draft picks seem to be overloaded with future Hall of Fame caliber prospects.
We've also been able to confirm the Mock Draft becomes increasingly accurate throughout the season, and by draft day one of them (usually the last one) may be an almost psychic prediction of how the NFL Draft will go.
Overall, it's sounding like the arrival of the Madden 22 Scouting Update is leading to a shinier version of many of the same lingering years-long issues that Madden 22 failed to fix.
