Is EA Sports PGA Tour on PS4?

The wait for EA Sports PGA Tour is over, with the game now available worldwide, however, is the title available on PS4?

Fans of golf can now create their virtual pro player and take on the best courses around, as well as the top tour pros, as they try to win some silverware.

Is EA Sports PGA Tour on PS4?

EA Sports PGA Tour is currently only available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the EA App, Steam and the Epic Games Store. This means that fans who own a PS4 will not be able to play the game, at least not at launch. Unfortunately, there is no mention of the game being available on the PS4.

It is worth noting that the PS4 is a relatively old console, having been released back in 2013. Since then, it has been superseded by the more powerful PS5, which was released in 2020. As such, it is not surprising that some game developers are no longer releasing their games on the PS4, instead focusing on the newer and more powerful consoles.

Why is this game only available on current gen (PS5, Xbox X|S, and PC) gaming systems?

EA SPORTS PGA TOUR’s high-fidelity visuals and gameplay are only possible with PlayStation 5 and Xbox X|S consoles as well as some PCs, so the game was developed with this in mind.

It is disappointing for PS4 owners that they will not be able to play EA Sports PGA Tour, although there is still the possibility that some kind of version will be developed for old-gen - depending on how successful the title becomes.

EA Sports PGA Tour Crossplay & Cross-platform

With EA Sports PGA Tour only available on current-gen platforms, does it support crossplay?

This is the ability to play against other players on different platforms, so PS5 users battling against those on Xbox.

Unfortunately, the answer is no, and as stated on the FAQ page of the EA Sports PGA Tour official website:

We are always trying to bring you the best golf game on the market with EA SPORTS PGA TOUR, which we know includes a variety of features like crossplay. At launch, crossplay will not be a feature that appears in-game, but we are constantly evaluating the possibility of this feature appearing post-launch.

Although EA Sports PGA Tour doesn't yet support crossplay, it does support cross-platform progression.

That means that saved data for your created golfer, including gear, outfits and achievements, can be accessed across PlayStation, Xbox and PC!
