Genshin Impact Story Will Take Several Years To Finish

Genshin Impact has taken the world by storm since its release in September.

So far the game has generated over $100 million in revenue.

The game is still in the 1.0 update, with the first update coming November 11th.

Things Are Just Getting Started

Genshin Impact developer MiHoYo has stated that it will take "many years" for the story to conclude.

As of right now we have only seen two of the seven cities in the game.

Meaning there is still a large amount of the game still to explore, along with all of the story, quests, and other locations still to be added.

ONLY THE START: Players can expect several years of support and updates to the game.

Its possible that the map could extend beyond the seven known cities.

It wouldn't make sense for the developers to just end support for the game if it still remains popular in the next few years.

Games such as World Of Warcraft have seen support and updates to the game for nearly 2 decades.

MiHoYo stated in an interview with Games Radar that,

"Genshin Impact has always been conceived of as a long-term project. Of the seven major cities in Teyvat, currently just the first two – Mondstadt and Liyue – are available for players to explore. The remainder will be made available in due course via future updates, and each city will come with its own main quests and side quests. It will likely take several years to tell the full story of Genshin Impact, and more and more playable characters will become accessible to players as the story develops."

The developers also said they will make "ongoing improvements to the core game based on player feedback and suggestions, such as introducing the ability to customize controls."

As of right now there isn't a schedule for the release of the third city, so there will be a few updates to the game, such as the upcoming 1.1 update, before we see the next city added to the game.

1.1 Update

The 1.1 update will launch on November 11th and will feature many changes to the games.

New additions include new characters, items, and quests.

There will also be a Reputation System and a new 2 week event called Unreconciled Stars.

Nintendo Switch Port

It is expected that the game will be released on the Nintendo Switch.

The port was originally slated for the end of September when the game left beta.

BOTW CLONE ON SWITCH?: Genshin Impact has been announced for the system, but no release date has been given.

Unfortunately that didn't happen and it is still missing from the hybrid system.

At some point it should be announced, hopefully with the 1.1 update.

Genshin Impact is still missing from the Xbox One/Series X though, and it seems like it may not be coming to the platform, much to fans disappointments.

Is Genshin Impact Coming To Playstation 5?

The 1.1 update is due to be released on November 11th, the day before the PS5 launches in select regions.

Part of the update will be adding compatibility for the Playstation 5.

NEXT GEN: Genshin Impact will be playable on day 1 on the PS5 via backwards compatability.

Genshin Impact will run on PS5 via backwards compatibility.

Meaning it will run the PS4 version of the game rather than its own PS5 build.

However, the game will benefit from better graphics and improved loading times, like many backwards compatible games for both the PS4 and Xbox One.
