It's been a long time coming, but we now know that the 17.20 update is finally arriving in Fortnite today, and downtime for the update has already begun.
Since it's the first one in four weeks, we expect it to make some quite significant changes and add some cool new features.
Below, we'll have the full patch notes (or at least our own version since Epic Games doesn't release them themselves) so that you know exactly what to expect.
LATEST - Fortnite Servers Now Live
Fortnite servers are back online following the 17.20 update. This update brings a whole new world of content in terms of skins and outfits but most important may be the preferred item slots feature.
We're also seeing teases for a new in-game event that could be the rumoured Ariana Grande concert.
Fortnite Servers Down For Update 17.20
Downtime has started for Fortnite Update 17.20.
We know a little bit about what's coming in the update but will keep you posted with more once the servers are live and we get a chance to explore the update for ourselves.
Fortnite 17.20 Update Patch Notes
As we mentioned above, Epic Games doesn't release patch notes of their updates in the traditional way.
While they release some details on Twitter and have a list of bug they're working to fix on a Trello board, they don't release a breakdown of everything for a new update.
Therefore, it's left to everyone else to work out for themselves from leaks and data-mined info.
Below, we've got everything we know so far. The list will be expanded once the update is actually out and live in game, so be sure to check back with us.
- Ability to set preferred item slots in you inventory.
If you'd like, you'll be able to select certain weapons and types of item in certain slots. Then, the first item of that type you pick up in a match will automatically be placed in the slot you choose.
Below are the item types that are supported by the new feature:
- ARs
- Shotguns
- SMGs
- Pistols
- Snipers & Bows
- Grenade Launchers & Rockets
- Consumables
- Utility
We'll update this section with more patch notes as they're revealed or leaked.
Fortnite 17.20 Update Release Date & Time
If all goes to plan, the 17.20 update should release at around 9am BST/4am ET on July 20, and will go live following an hour or two of server downtime.
We'll let you know as soon as it is live and the downtime is over.
