Operation: Snowdown
Winter is coming this week. Join Snowmando for new Quests, chilling Items added to the Island, and new and fan-favorite LTMs you won’t wanna miss. Complete all the Operation: Snowdown Quests and earn a ton of free snowy cosmetics, including two exclusive Outfits!
New Items
Mancake misplaced his stash of weapons throughout the Island. The new Cowboy Repeater Rifle combines a rapid shooting style with dead-eye accuracy. Syr-up!
Save up those Bars because the fire-loving Blaze has also been equipped with an Exotic-class weapon for sale, the fiery Dragon’s Breath Sniper. To combat the heat, a new Character has arrived and will be packing their own chilly armaments.
New Options
Based on player-requested feedback, we’ve added an option to toggle on or off Pre-Edits; with Pre-Edits ‘off’ new builds will always appear in their default, unedited state when building.
On the next gen hardware front, 15.10 brings ‘120 FPS Mode’ option for a buttery smooth framerate that would make Mancake blush. Note: In 120 FPS Mode, the resolution display will be capped at 1440p on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and 1080p for Xbox Series S.
New LTM: Spy Within
Drop in to a new LTM playlist, Spy Within, featuring new games made by top community creators. The team of Spies must hunt down the team of Agents as they complete objectives. Don’t act sus, or the agents will vote you off the island!
Issues Fixed
Instead of traditional patch notes, we can take a look at what has been fixed via the Fortnite Trello Board:
General
High sensitivity/acceleration on Xbox consoles when using keyboard and mouse.
Multiple actions' names are missing from the Custom Controller settings.
Fortnite Crew
"There was a problem" error when joining Fortnite Crew on PlayStation.
Fortnite Crew button missing on PlayStation after joining.
Incorrect message when cancelling Fortnite Crew on a different platform.
Fortnite Crew "time remaining" timer may appear off by a day.
Battle Royale
Quests wrongly marked as "New."
Big Chuggus' Character Collection tab lists an extra 3rd location.
Fishing Collection Book leaderboard and friend progress not visible.
Widow's Light Back Bling not visible on PC with Effects set to Low.
Certain NPCs are granting Storm Surge credit when damaged in Arena.
Total Bars may rarely appear as 0 in a match.
Save the World
Husks can damage mission objectives through structures.
Mobile
Unable to accept Gift on first login of the Season on Android.
Two "Buy Battle Pass" buttons on the Battle Pass screen.
Winterfest 2020
It has now been revealed that Winterfest won't be called Winterfest this year, instead it is now known as Operation: Snowdown.
Players will be given Operation: Snowdown challenges to complete, which will grant XP and cosmetics, including two free skins.
There is also another event called The Spy Within, which will grant even more free cosmetics.
Players who complete all of the Operation: Snowdown challenges will receive the Snowmando and Frost Squad skins for free.
Snowdown Shuffle
A new Snowdown Shuffle LTM will be coming to the game.
This LTM will automatically shuffle and choose and random LTM for the lobby to play.
Here are the LTMs that are included:
- Catch!
- Air Royale
- Tilted Taxis
- Shockwave
- Score Royale
- Rally Royale
- Pickaxe Frenzy
Free XP
Upon logging in to the game after the 15.10 update has been installed, all players have been granted 50,000 free XP.
We don't know why we have, but we will take it.
120 FPS Mode
Next gen owners will now be able to play Fortnite at 120fps, providing they have a TV/monitor capable of it.
Using the new HDMI 2.1 and a compatible TV/monitor, players will now get double the frames as they got previously, offering a much closer level of performance to PC, which typically play on either 144 or 240fps.
Performance Mode
On PC players now have the option to play in Performance Mode, this allows players to run the game usually lower quality textures for improved performance.
This will be especially useful for players using older systems as, according to Epic Games, it can really boost FPS.
Players will also be given the option of whether they want to install high quality textures or not.
By choosing not to install them and only use Performance Mode, the size of the game drops to approximately half, so a great space saver.
New Weapon
A new rifle has been added to the game, the Lever Action Rifle.
This is a Wild West style rifle and certainly packs a punch.
The rifle uses the same ammo as Sniper Rifles, but has a 9 round magazine, with each bullet dealing 58 damage, and likely around 2x damage for headshots.
Wakanda Forever
Last season players were expecting to see Black Panther, however he didn't make an appearance.
Instead, we're now getting Wakanda Forever challenges, which will grant the Wakanda Forever emote once completed.
Challenges
Players will be able to complete the Operation: Snowdown and The Spy Within challenges to earn free cosmetics, skins, and a lot of XP, in addition to the Weekly Quests.

A new Frosty Legends pack will be released soon in the Item Shop.
This bundle will consist of Snow Drift, Snowheart, and Frost Broker.
New Lobby
A new Christmas themed Lobby background will be added to the game, showing Misty Meadows covered in snow.
Green Arrow
The next Crew Pack skin has been leaked and it will be Green Arrow from the DC universe.
