World Cup Path to Glory

Path to Glory is the first World Cup promo proper of the season and it will be a good one!

We have seen Path to Glory events before, with the most recent one coming in FIFA 21 - in recognition of EURO 2020 and Copa America - and it looks like this one will use similar mechanics.

That means that live cards will be released that receive upgrades based on their nation’s progress in the tournament.

MASSIVE BOOSTS - Path to Glory lets players make BIG gains on their OVR

This year, the cards will be upgraded as follows:

  • Initial boost on release
  • +1 IF Upgrade - Qualify from Group Stages
  • +1 IF Upgrade - Win Round of 16
  • 5* Weak Foot Upgrade - Win Quarter Finals
  • 5* Skill Move Upgrade - Win Semi Finals
  • +1 IF Upgrade and 3 New Traits - Win the Final

It is also leaked that if a player already has 5* Weak Foot or Skill Moves, they will gain an additional IF Upgrade if their team reaches the Semi Final!

As well as the new cards coming to packs, more will be released via Objectives and SBCs, as is usual during promos.

You can keep on top of all the progress of PTG cards using our Path to Glory Tracker.

Additional Content

As the Path to Glory promo is the first of the main World Cup events, it has also been joined by loads of other content that will run throughout the campaign, with each launching on Friday, 11 November.

This includes:

  • World Cup Player Items - Special cards (sometimes boosted) for players from the 32 WC nations, that are time-limited, available in special packs or as rewards, needed to complete WC Swaps objectives and contribute to End of Event Rewards
  • World Cup Swaps - Much like Icon Swaps, you can earn Swaps Tokens and then trade them in against certain SBCs to earn Packs, Player Picks and World Cup Stars
  • World Cup FUT Heroes - Upgraded versions of the Base FUT Hero cards, coming to a select 30 players, released over two squads, with some only available through SBCs or Objectives
