The news for FIFA 23 is starting to come in as we get ready for the upcoming game.
A title change to EA Sports FC will happen next year, with EA and FIFA parting ways, but for now, things will remain consistent.
That means ICONs will be populating Ultimate Team once again, so check out all the latest news and rumours surrounding the powerful cards below.
New ICONs
There will be three new ICON players in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, with all three players offering something a bit different.
German legend Gerd Muller is the highest-rated of the three new items, and his Prime item will be rated 94 OVR!
Brazilian speedster Jairzinho brings pace in abundance, and will no doubt have the silky skills to match.
Pass master Xabi Alonso will also be a popular addition, although his low Pace attributes may see his usage limited in the game.
Release Date
As confirmed during the reveal trailer, FIFA 23 will be fully released on Friday, 30 September.
Some will be able to access the game sooner than that via Early Access and the Web App.
Early access for pre-orders begins on Tuesday, 27 September for those who buy the Ultimate Edition of the game.
The 10-hour EA Play trial gives players a limited number of hours of gaming too and will begin at the same time as pre-order early access.
Wishlist
There are several legendary players we want to see make a return to the game, so take a look at our favourites below.
Sergio Aguero
The sad news that Sergio Aguero has had to retire from football has rocked the football world, but hopefully, we see him back in the game soon!
An Icon card would be no more than Aguero deserves after a wonderful career that has included five Premier League titles with Manchester City, and well over 350 goals.
Vincent Kompany
There is a bit of a theme here, but our third player is also part of the Manchester City era of dominance with Belgian centre-back Vincent Kompany also a worthy candidate for an Icon card.
We actually see a FUT Heroes card as more likely for Kompany, but either way, we would expect the card to be awesome.
Fans have their say
The Icon ranks usually get bolstered by a handful of players each season, so we are expecting a few new faces ahead of the new game later this year.
FIFPlay has a live fan vote on their site where you can have your say on who you want to see arrive in FIFA 23.
Alfredo Di Stefano currently leads the fan poll, closely followed by cult-hero former Netherlands midfielder Edgar Davids.
We would love to see Davids rocking his trademark goggles in FUT 23, so make it happen EA!
