The official FIFA 23 Team of the Year (TOTY) nominees list is set to be revealed later today but the Ultimate Team leakers are at it yet again with the early reveals.
In the wake of Lionel Messi's World Cup glory, Cristiano Ronaldo has fallen to a new low.
According to various leaks, Ronaldo will shockingly miss out on the list of 100 TOTY nominees.
End of an era
The official list of nominees is set to be revealed today (Monday, 9 January) at 11am ET / 4pm GMT, so nothing is confirmed just yet.
But, it looks like the Manchester United and Real Madrid legend will be excluded from the Team of the Year nominees list for the first time in over a decade.
This news proceeds Ronaldo's latest downgrade, plummetting to his lowest ever rating in FIFA, with 88 beating his 89 offering from FIFA 11 to become his lowest overall card.
Now representing Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia, it really does feel like the end of an era for CR7.
Just deserts
Whilst Ronaldo's omission will no doubt come as a shock to many footballing fans, it makes a lot of sense.
The Portuguese striker only managed to net one goal this season for Manchester United and failed to contribute at all for his country at the World Cup.
If you ask yourself, is Ronaldo now one of the 100 most effective players in world football, the honest answer for the majority will be no.
So, having been voted into FIFA 22's Team of the Year XI as the 12th Man, Ronaldo will deservedly miss out on the TOTY squad for the first time in FIFA's recent history.
