FIFA 22 is fast approaching, and the next stop on the way to release is the highly-anticipated ratings reveal.
One player who will certainly be included on the upgrades list is Jorginho after a trophy-laden season for both club and country, and he could be set to pick up a personal accolade as well!
UEFA Player of the Year
The UEFA Player of the Year award is set to be announced after the Champions League draw on Thursday, 26 August.
Three Premier League stars have made the final shortlist, with Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne joined by Chelsea duo N'Golo Kante and Jorginho.
Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb reports that sources close to UEFA have told them Jorginho will be named the winner at the award ceremony, which may raise a few eyebrows.
With a Champions League and European Championship medal to his name this season there are plenty of points in his favour, but has he really been the standout performer?
Former winners
Whether you think Jorginho deserves the award or not, let's take a look at some former winners and the FIFA ratings that followed.
2019-20 - Robert Lewandowski (OVR 91)
Bayern Munich striker Lewandowski scored a ridiculous 55 goals in all competitions in the 2019-20 season earning himself the UEFA Player of the Year award.
A huge 91 OVR followed, ranking Lewandowski in the top five players on the game.
2018-19 Virgil van Dijk (OVR 90)
The difference Virgil van Dijk made at Liverpool was incredible.
Liverpool have won the Premier League and Champions League since his arrival, and a 90 OVR was just reward for his efforts.
2017-18 Luka Modric (OVR 91)
The most similar on the list to Jorginho, Luka Modric scored just twice the season he won the award.
Real Madrid did win the Champions League and Croatia were World Cup finalists though, and a 91 OVR followed, a +2 boost from the previous game.
Midfield magician
Safe to say, if Jorginho does win the award then he will be the lowest-rated UEFA Player of the Year for some time, potentially ever!
His current 83 OVR will almost certainly increase, but it is by how much that is the question.
We are expecting a rating of 85 for Jorginho in FIFA 22, putting him alongside the likes of Thiago and Dani Parejo.
Whatever his rating is next season, don't expect a FUT beast to follow as Jorginho's pace, or lack of it has prevented him from being a popular choice in FIFA Ultimate Team.
