FIFA 22 is set to be the best version of the game yet, especially on the new PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
The FUT community will be eager to see some new Icons in FIFA 22, and there have been some names thrown around already.
There have been some new Icons added to FIFA online though which could suggest an appearance in the new game later this year.
FIFA 22
Unsurprisingly there has been no word on when FIFA 22 will officially be released, but we can have a pretty accurate guess.
FIFA 22 will likely be released between Friday, 24 September and Friday, 8 October, 2021, judging by the release in previous years.
We may not be too far off seeing a trailer with EA Play Live set to arrive on Thursday, 22 July.
Electronic Arts revealed the official date on Twitter and it also confirms that the event will run separately to E3 2021.
Ultimate Team
The most popular and lucrative mode in the FIFA franchise is Ultimate Team, so this is where EA focuses its efforts.
Expect to see some new features, designs, and promo events throughout the year as EA will try to keep things fresh.
The Icon ranks were bolstered during FIFA 21 and we are now up to a total of 101 legends in the game, so fingers crossed this increases!
Nine Icons added to FIFA online
To confirm, this is not a leak of FIFA 22 Icons.
Nine players have been added to FIFA online as Icon players, including former Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.
He is joined by fellow Dutch legends Wesley Sneijder and Jaap Stam in a line-up of great players.
Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas is long overdue a place in the Icon roster and is certainly one we would love to see added in FIFA 22.
Seven Icons 'leaked'
This is not the first time we have seen potential new Icon players linked to a spot in FIFA 22.
Seven legends of football have been 'leaked' ahead of FIFA 22. It is rumoured that these players will be returning to the game as Icon players in Ultimate Team.
We would love this to be true as the seven players named are deserving of a place among the Icon elite.
Take a look at the potential new FIFA 22 Icons including Spanish maestro Xabi Alonso.
