NEW Season of the Splicer Reveal Trailer
Looking for a fresh look at all the new content coming to Destiny 2 in the Season of the Splicer? We've got you covered.
Bungie has released the following Reveal Trailer and it gives us a look at all the neon-lit fun of a sun-less Last City. Those pesky Vex, right?
Destiny 2 Season 14 End Date
Destiny 2 Season 14, the Season of the Splicer, is going to run from May 11th until August 24th.
There's going to be a Weekly Pinnacle Mission, Iron Banners, Trails of Osiris, and more. It also highlights the fact that the Intro Mission for the new season will be free for all players to check out!
New Class-Specific Leg Armour
It's safe to say that there's a lot of new content coming to Destiny 2 in the Season of the Splicer update. One thing we should talk about though is the new Class-specific Leg Armour that Bungie is adding into the game.
We know there's going to be more to unlock, but right now we have information about three new bits of gear that should help you become that little bit more potent in your fight against The Vex and the Endless Night.
We've got everything you need to know about those below:
Star-Eater Scales
If you're a Hunter in Destiny 2, these are going to be a must-have. They help you charge your Super Ability faster and they make it that little bit more powerful.
" Allows Hunters to feast upon Orbs of Power, charging their Super more quickly and making it more potent."
The Path of Burning Steps
This one's for the Titans out there. Solar Eliminations are going to increase your damage output and increase your Stasis Resistance. Not bad at all.
" Titan armor that converts Solar eliminations into increased weapon damage and makes them more difficult to lock down with Stasis."
Boots of the Assembler
If you're playing a Support Warlock, these boots will help make you more effective in a fireteam. It also adds noble benefits to everything!
" Condenses a Warlock rifts’ healing or empowering energy into projectiles that seek out their allies to bless them with noble benefits."
What's The Story This Time?
What does all that mean though? There's the mention of an "Endless Night" and the Season 14 Reveal Trailer mentions the Vex... But what's even going on?
Thankfully, Bungie has cleared that up with this little summary of what's going on this time around.
" The Vex have plunged the Last City into an endless night, threatening the safety once found beneath the watchful presence of the Traveler. It is here, bathed in perpetual moonlight, that Ikora reveals the identity of an unlikely ally that may hold the keys to triumphing over this attack."
Who is the unlikely ally, though? Well... He's one of the last Splicers out there.
" Mithrax, Kell of the House of Light, leads a small group of Eliksni who wish to be closer to the Traveler. As a Sacred Splicer, he possesses the knowledge needed to combat the Vex technology that ensnares the Last City. There is a bond of Light shared here... will it be enough?"
New Missions & Activities
In terms of new missions and activities, Destiny 2 Season 14 is introducing two new ways to play.
Firstly, we have a new six-player multiplayer matchmaking activity called "Override".
" Fireteams of six will use Splicer tech to hack the Vex Network. Uncover their secrets, steal their code, and user their power against them."
There's also a new Weekly Pinnacle Mission: Expunge. This one is a little vaguer, so expect things to change up a little bit from week to week.
" Each week, Guardians will uncover new vulnerabilities within the Vex Network and use Splicer Keys to infiltrate and collapse it from within."
Vault of Glass Is Back
Of course, this is the big news of Destiny 2 Season 14. The iconic Destiny Raid, the first Destiny Raid, Vault of Glass, is coming back.
" The time lost Raid returns.
Stored away, deep in the Vault of Glass on Venus is Atheon, Time's Conflux. No one knows what this Vex is. Guardians must access the Vault, navigate the fractures in space and time, and terminate Atheon before it can become an unstoppable threat."
We know that it's going to be largely the same as it was originally, but Bungie has been tweaking the experience to make sure it's up to their current standards of content. Furthermore, we also know that Venus will not be returning as an explorable location.
At least in this update, anyway.
H.E.L.M. Hub Update
We can all agree that the return of the Vault of Glass Raid would be the perfect time to re-introduce Venus to Destiny, right? Well, sadly we don't have that yet.
However, we do have a new H.E.L.M. Hub update to talk about! There's a brand new chamber that's been added to specifically integrate the new Splicer technology into the existing location.
We didn't just get the tweet above, though, we also got this quote:
" A new chamber overlooking the loading bay has been completed. It is here that the Vanguard will harness new Splicer tech and plan their response to the Vex incursion."
It isn't much, but it's something? We'll be able to find out a little more about what this new H.E.L.M. Hub update means when the update releases on May 11th, anyway. Bungie doesn't do things without a good reason.
Armour Synthesis & Armaments
It might be a little controversial, but the Armour Transmog system has finally arrived and it promises to give Guardians a lot more options when it comes to Armour cosmetics.
" Grow your collection among the stars and forge your look in the Last City. Every journey and every Guardian is unique. Your armour should be too."
The process is a little convoluted, but it will eventually allow you to turn almost any piece of armour into a Universal Ornament. This means you can change what armour looks like and keep wearing something you like the look of, even if it's weaker.
In terms of weapons... It's a lot.
" Over 30 new and reprised Legendary weapons to crash the Vex Network with. Find the perfect weapon, the perfect roll, and bring an end to this endless night."
These weapons will be joined by things like "Star-Eater Scales", "The Path of Burning Steps", and "Boots of the Assembler". There's going to be a lot more to unlock and earn in Destiny 2 going forwards.
Season Pass Details and More
It wouldn't really be a new season of Destiny 2 without a new Season Pass, right?
If you purchase the new Season Pass, you'll get the new Exotic Stasis Sidearm instantly and there's XP Boosts that should speed up Seasonal ranks and Reward Track unlocks.
There's a full rundown of everything coming with Destiny 2's Season 14 Season Pass on the official Season of the Splicer page here.
It's worth noting that you only get access to selected Seasonal Challenges and Seasonal Gear & Armour without the Season Pass. Similarly, you can only play the new Weekly Pinnacle Missions as a Season Pass Owner.
