The conclusion of the Light and Dark saga in Destiny 2 is nearing its end, and the new expansion, Lightfall, ushers it.
With the story of The Witch Queen wrapped up and a Season of Plunder active, it's time to move forward into a new chapter, one that will be the final one before the battle between Light and Dark's end, The Final Shape, which releases in the coming year.
Let's take a look at everything we know about Lightfall, including its release date, the new subclass, the story, and more.
Destiny 2: Lightfall Release Date
Lightfall will release on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. The expansion was originally planned for 2022 but The Witch Queen's release in 2021 delayed it.
The follow-up to The Witch Queen will mark "the beginning of the end" and is set to be the next major expansion that will begin ushering the end of the Light and Dark, propelling Destiny 2's story forward.

Destiny 2: Lightfall New Subclass, Strand
Guardians will be able to utilize a newfound power, Strand. This mysterious green energy is the Guardians' ability to harness the Darkness' power, discovering it and making it their own to use against the expansion's new enemies.
Strand is another Darkness subclass but unlike stasis, it's completely unique and new.
This new subclass gives Guardians increased movement abilities, one that in the trailer can be seen used to reach distances and locations that could never be reached before, and of course, take out enemies with flashy super moves.
Destiny 2: Lightfall Story
Guardians have finally found out who the mastermind behind it all actually is, The Witness. This big bad along with their newfound and newly empowered chosen disciple, Calus, and his new Shadow Legion army will look to bring their plan to fruition.
Dubbed "The Final Shape," this is the Witness' perfected version of the universe, one that has rid of all unnecessary things.
The new Destiny 2 campaign will be held in the world of Neptune. Unlike any other world explored thus far, this one is a thriving, futuristic, cyberpunk-esque haven that was developed by humanity along an alternate path ever since the Collapse.
Within it, Guardians will be able to find the city of Neo Luna, a thriving metropolis. There, Guardians will encounter the Cloudstriders, who like them, are sworn protectors of their people. However, as opposed to choosing their path and sticking to it, they are chosen. If deemed worthy, they can protect their people.
There's also a new type of enemy, the Tormentors, that according to Bungie are boss-type enemies just in regular battles. They have the ability to drain one's life force, creating a formidable foe.
