Black Ops Cold War's Mauer Der Toten is finally here and that means it's time to build and upgrade Klaus. He might not be as popular as Treyarch made out ahead of launch, but he's funny enough and an important part of the Main Quest. Here's everything you need to know about how you can build Klaus and everything else you need to know.
LATEST - Where To Find Klaus' Headgear
As you continue through the Easter Egg, you might be wondering where to find the parts to Klaus' Headgear. This is unavoidable and an important step, so knowing where you need to go to find the right pieces is vital.
- Radio Tower on Apartment Rooftop, Spawn
- You will need to shoot the Radio Tower with the CRBR-S Wonder Weapon to get the Antenna to drop
- Electronics Store, near Jugger-nog
- Shoot one of the three Radios with the CRBR-S Wonder Weapon to get the Transistor
- Ghost Station, underground

Klaus is good, but you can make him better. Here's everything you need to know about levelling Klaus up to his final form.
Tier 1 Upgrade

A Few Details Worth Knowing About Klaus
If you're looking to use Klaus to mow down the undead hordes, there are a few things you should know.
Firstly, Klaus can be controlled (sort of). When you activate Klaus, you lose your Tactical Equipment and get given a Control Radio. Using this, you can aim at the floor and tell Klaus where to go. He can protect a doorway quite easily or be used to slow down a train of Zombies. If you don't do this, he follows you around. To return to this Default Mode, you can double-tap (Square/ X/ Use Button) in order to "reset" him.
Secondly, Klaus doesn't last forever. As much as we wish we could have Klaus follow us around for the whole game, he doesn't Klaus has a limited Battery and will only last for a couple of minutes before he heads back to the Safe House.
In addition to this, Klaus isn't free. Who do you think he is? If you want Klaus, you're going to have to pay 2,000 Points to activate him. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a whole lot but it can be a set back in early rounds. If you want to use Klaus to do something, make sure you know where you're headed when you activate him.
How To Build Klaus In Mauer Der Toten
Getting Klaus is going to be an important part of Mauer Der Toten, but that doesn't mean it's going to be too difficult. Here's an easy step-by-step guide on how you can get everything you need to build Klaus.
Step One: Turn on the Power Switch.
Step One (a): Head to East Berlin Streets, following Objective Markers, and the first Tempest (as seen in Outbreak) and collect the Electrical Fuse they drop.
Step One (b): Continue to follow the Objective Markers and turn on the Power Switch. This will then trigger a second Tempest fight, through another door, which will drop a second Electrical Fuse.
Step Two: Head to Checkpoint Charlie and activate the Pack-A-Punch machine. You will need to kill the first Disciple enemy in order to activate it. This will be marked with an Objective Marker.
Step Three: Use the Pack-A-Punch machine to add Brain Rot to one of your weapons.
Step Four: Find the Microwave Dish and attach it to the Upgrade Station in the Garment Factory.
Step Four (a): Search the Debris Piles around the base of the Guard Towers on both sides of the "Death Strip" location. There are around 20 locations these can spawn in this small area and the Microwave Dish will spawn randomly in one of those.
Step Five: Collect the Robotic Hands from Hotel Room 305.
Step Five (a): Use a Brain Rot Zombie to tear down the barricade to the Hotel Room 305 Bedroom. The Robotic Hands will be around the neck of a corpse on the bed.
Step Six: Reach Round 10.
Step Seven: Kill the Elite "Panzer" Enemy that spawns at Round 10 and collect the Battery he drops.
Step Eight: Head to the Safe House in the Maintenance Tunnels and find Klaus. Attach the Robot Hands and Battery.
Once this is done, Klaus will make a witty remark and be up and ready to kill. You can find a Control Radio on the table next to him and this will allow you to dictate where he goes on Mauer Der Toten.
Why Is Klaus Useful?
At the moment, we don't know if Klaus plays a big part in the Main Quest / Easter Egg. We can imagine he will do, but we won't find out until the objectives go live at 10:00 PST / 13:00 EST / 18:00 BST on July 15th.
For now, though, Klaus can be used to get the new CRBR-S Wonder Weapon. Once you've built Klaus, you'll need to use him to obtain a Blacklight Flashlight.
From here, all you need to do is find the relevant Safe Combination numbers scattered about the Mauer Der Toten map and open the Safe in Hotel Room 305. It all sounds easy enough and should be a good place to start ahead of the Main Quest's activation.
